Hello everyone:
My name is Fariba. This past Saturday Frankie had a massive heart attack. To his doctor's amazement he survived and with much less damage to his heart than expected. He has undergone a series of aggressive and very painful procedures. Every day there's a little bit of bad news. Kidney function, bleeding, high heart bit and congestive heart failure. He's right now being given two units of . he's been trying to be brave about it. Please keep him in mind.

Thanks

Fariba,

We've had other folks post prayer requests for their loved ones on threads like this one. They then print the wishes and take them to them. Frankie would get a kick out of seeing people sending him their best wishes. The names on the thread might not mean much to people off this board but to those who've been here awhile they mean a great deal.

You might consider doing that if you think it's appropriate. Take care of yourself and our friend,

Hey all,

I'm back from the edge. Literally. I mean Electrical shock and everything. This thing happened Saturday 10th. Right after I woke up to watch the England game in the World cup. Real bad pain and pressure in my chest and the feeling of increasing lightheadedness and slowly losing the use of my limbs. I actually went upstairs and woke Fariba who immediately took me to ER. I didn't think I had time to wait for an ambulance. After some heroic driving and red lights that she ran I was lying on my back gasping and turning like a snake with masked faces running around and screaming around me. One appeared on top of me and said, "Sir, you've had a major heart attack!" It was surreal! I remember saying, "Having or had?" "Had." she confirmed much to my disappointment and hope that we had made it on time. They stabilized me a little and wheeled me to the cath room, where I don't think they even had time for my getting numb where they needed to stick me. Because I definitely felt the access made to my femoral vein. That's where I was told later I actually got the shock paddles. They put in a stent and two more in the same vein the next day. My other two main veins were totally open. But according to my doc they thought that they could lose me any time.

The recovery has been very adventurous. I had to deal with severe internal bleeding later. Also kidey malfunction. Until Wednesday I was happy I hadn't heard the dreaded words "Congestive Heart Failure." Well guess what! :banghead: It is not real severe though and hopefully with diet and medication I can keep it well under control.

I am typing this from the hospital lounge. The walk from my room to here has left me incredibly tired and breathless. So I won't be typing much longer. Fariba printed off the entire thread and brought the to me to read. Thank you all. I'm so touched. This is the best dysfunctional family one could ask for.

I wish I had the strength to sit here and reply the individual posts. But that's a task for later. And maybe much later as I have a long rehab and recovery ahead of me. They might feel good enough about my progress the I heard they may even release me tomorrow (the 20th). Just to answer a few questions asked:

I am a 25 year old trapped in a 55 year old body. Though these days it feels more like a 95 year old one. Fariba is my fiancee and a true angel. She's been by my side almost around the clock.

That's all folks. For now anyway. I don't know when I can post again. But I'll make that ASAP. Some of you haven't escaped me yet! ;)

Thank you for letting all here know. I am deeply saddened to hear this news. I have been on vacation to Orange Beach for a week, so I've been kinda out of the loop. He will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Frankie did one of the kindest, most thoughtful deeds for my family last year. I posted a thread asking for prayers when my Grandmother suffered 2 strokes. He sent a card to my Grandmother in North Kansas City hospital wishing her well and telling her how much her Grandson cared about her. My entire family was in awe that an almost complete stranger would go out of their way to do such a thing. I think that says a lot about what kind of man your Dad happens to be. Please keep us updated about his condition and know that he will be in my prayers.

Some of you haven't escaped me yet! ;)

:toast:

cool.
welcome back.

Not to mention offering to some people their only exposure to a real life Middle Easterner outside of the evening news.

MidWEST. Frankie lives in the MidWEST. There's a big difference.
