The company I work for had banner years in 2004 and 2005, with that the corporate overhead grew quite a bit. Unfortunately the last half 2006 is going to be relatively slow. Several heads have rolled over the last 2 days. I'm at a senior management level and unfortunately had to lay off 3 people in my department :( . This morning a member of magagement at my level was let go. I've been worried all day that I could be next. Well the CEO just called a meeting of the remaining staff to explain why we had layoffs and to let us know we're done laying people off. This is the second time in 11 years that corporate cut backs have happened. I think I survived another one. It's nice to be employed!

Sorry, it was either you or me and I'm much more valuable than you.

We find it's always better to fire people on a Friday.

Studies have statistically shown that there's less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week.

Actually the best time is when peeps is on vacation, that way they have time to simmer down before they can realistically get anywhere near you..

I always fire people at the same time.

Right after they piss me off.

As for keeping your job, you're just delaying the inevitable. I mean we ALL eventually leave our jobs. No point sweating it.
