I guess 14 is about right for a first-year coach with the system. We're better than that ranking, but its not like it matters what some magazine things (its not the AP poll or anything). We're kind of a wild card in the sense everthing could just click, or not.

I think they just don't know them very well. They probably just look at te fact that we haven't won a playoff game in over 10 years despite some stellar seasons, and they think "we'll say they won't do very good until they do." They aren't about being right, or making good predictions, they're about being popular, and being liked.

That being said, even ESPN admits we have the most underrated QB in the league.

I always notice that when they do highlights, most of the time you see any Chief in them is when they are getting run over, yet very few highlights of LJ crushing someone or Trent throwing a perfect 40-50 yard pass.

YAY! We barely miss the playoffs again! Kickass!

Where else would you put us?

We barely missed the play-offs last year, which makes us the 13th best team in the league. What exactly has the team done in the off-season to warrant moving up the rankings?

We're always in the middle.

We could start 5-0, and we might jump to 13

I am as eager for NFL news as anyone.
Still, perhaps waiting until training camp is over would give a little more authority to pre-seaon rankings.
It is just a hair early to start slotting teams IMHO.

Maybe when we start putting up 225 yards a game on the ground we will move up.

I'll say it... Especially with Law still floating around... :)

I would say that this is artifically high...I mean, after all, this IS an even numbered year. The Chiefs always go 7-9 or 6-10 in even numbered years.

It does not have my stamp of approval. So it is not kickass

Every year for the last 3, the AFC West winner got all the hype in the offseason.

KC going into 2004, SD going into 2005 and Denver going into 2006.

2004 and 2005 saw the previous division-winner land in 3rd place.

It's not like this crap means anything. They seldom, if EVER go out on a limb. The team that was good last year, such as Denver this year (or SD and KC in years past), gets the hype and the ranking. It's how it is.

Yeah, this ranking is stooopid considering there are still free agents to be signed and rookie holdouts, and I'm sure there will be injuries in training camps, and ESPN obviously hasn't watched Rich Scanlon dominate yada yada yada...

Except for '62, '66, '68, '86, '90, '92, '94, and '96 that's pretty much right on! :)

Isn't Kickarse locked down or banned or at least back at work changing tires at Sears? I don't think he needs to be consulted

The age thing does make me nervous. We made fun of the faiders a couple of years back saying they were old, and that team fell apart. Of course it is the faid, they could be all-world and still manage to melt down.

We barely missed the playoffs in the AFC. In the NFC we'd be the 3rd or 4th best team. we should at least be above the Redskins, Bears and maybe Giants.

Bah, Power Rankings dont mean much to me.

Its the writers job to make these articles, and especially this early in the offseason, it dont carry much weight.

The rest is pretty much the popular opinion of the league (more like media circles) at the given moment...
