Chiefs | D. Brown No. 2 for now
Sat, 24 Jun 2006 21:25:28 -0700

Sports Xchange reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Dee Brown emerged from spring drills as the backup to starting RB Larry Johnson. However, head coach Herm Edwards also made it clear that he still thinks Johnson's backup may be a more established player, RB Priest Holmes. "I'm still anticipating Priest coming back," Edwards said again this week. "If he does, then we've got two starting running backs, and not many teams have that luxury. If Priest isn't the guy, then Dee Brown gets the first shot. If he can't do the job, we look some place else."

It sounds as if Herm is trying to get Priest motivated by calling him the second starter. I hope his double-speak is successful. :)

So, he's in Hermie's ear?

Herm just doesn't want to push him to hard.

completely different system could make the difference.

with Al Saunder at the helm our offense could really spread the field and make priest holmes have running plays like a 3rd down back.

draws,sprints,sweeps

this is what Quentin Griffin should be suited for imo.

have to wait and see if he can do it though .... i liked Griffin coming out of college.

All that will be great if he hangs onto the ball, that was one of his problems in Denver if I recall

I was a bigger fan of Mackenzi Smith than I was Brown, but maybe last year we needed a guy who was more of a blocker than a runner.

Brown got the #2 spot the same way Huard did. By default.

I still think Michael Bennett will be a Chief if Holmes doesn't return.
