I have 112K on my GTP, and am looking to do some periodic maintenance.
Next up new McPherson struts all around.
Looks like the 'big' brands are Gabriel and KYB.
Anyone have any experience with either in the 99 Pontiac Grand Prix, or similar size/ride, area?
Good, bad, meh, teh roxxors?
Is there a designation [Royal, Ultimate, el primo, etc.] I should look out for, for good or bad?

There is also a lesser known entity out there.

springtech with their "suspension max" line. I can't kind a darn thing about them out there. But the price is certainly right.

This is something that is not 'messed up' on my car at present. Just regular wear and tear, and a subtle softening of the ride over the years. I don't want to replace a quality OEM part with a piece of shit. And I don't need to, probably for a while.

Any input is welcome.

Got KYBs on my vette, they were a massive improvement. That's all I know about them.

That's all I'm looking for. First-hand accounts. Anecdotes. Assessments from mechanics/gearheads on the board. Whatever.
If someone knows of a rating service [or rating forum] for these things, I'd be glad to hear it.

I know my way around a chassis. And I'll be replacing these myself [and yes, I've done it before [my 94 Escort, my 96 Grand Am, friend's Cutlass in HS, cousin's 01 cavalier].
But in those cases I was just looking to replace. Quality was secondary. And I'm not finding a lot of input online.

Oh, and I'll be buying online, so salesman input isn't there either.

Sounds like you have quite a bit of experience already. I used to sell Monroe and Garbriel and I have installed quite a few sets of Monroe. If it was me that would be my choice. It has been a while though, things have probably changed.
