It's not usually a source of interest for me, but my hometown Hornets have 2 first round picks. I hope we get a shooter and a big man that have immediate impact. But, from what I see, it's one of the weaker drafts in a while.

It'd be nice to see one of these blockbuster trades materialize for once. Marion, Iverson, Garnett... shake it up a bit.

There were rumours he may come over in the middle of last season. I guess it depends a lot on how badly he wants a title and weighing that against the money I am sure he would have to give up.. Lakers will be fine either way it will just take a bit longer if they don't get him. I believe if they had acquired him this last season you would have seen the Lakers take the title this year.

Yeah, I almost feel bad for them when we beat them in football too. They always have their section with their band at the Swamp and all game long they do that pathetic "Wooooooooooooooooo Piiiiiiiiig Soooey!" It's quite humorous.

This draft may be weaker up top than others in the past but I actually know pretty much all of the guys in the top 20. Maybe that "19 years old" rule will make the draft a bit more interesting. And my Bulls have two picks in the first. Thanks New York!

Exactly. i'll actually know most of the players drafted. the ones I wont will be the europeans, so with the heat not holding any picks I still may watch, especially since there's nothing else on.

On second thoughts, maybe I'll go drink instead. Or both.

The problem is that NBA players do not rework their deals. I don't know whether it is the players association that would prevent it from happening but it is something that simply isn't done.

I think if Garnett is traded it will probably be for a few expiring bad contracts and a good young player or two. Probably something like Miami put together for the Shaq deal. Odom, Kwame, Mihm and Bynum maybe.

Boston said Telfair, being only 19 or 20 looked better when healthy than any of the PGs this year...

And they're still talking about Iverson, but that the trade would be around July 1st...

Plus, you are learning from one of the masters.

I did some research and Kidd is 33 years old... Its feasable he'll retire in 3 years... Or they can split time extending Kidd's career.

The question is "why would you take Rondo after you just traded for Telfair?" (Boston traded with Phoenix)

And no Rondo doesn't suck. His jump shot is horrible but he is an amazing athlete. IMO he will fit better in the NBA where he can run and slash where he couldn't do that in UKs offense. His ball handling and passing ability in addition to his defense, hops and freakishly long arms will suite him fine in the NBA.

The Grizz have Gay pride!

Bye, Shane. :deevee:

He was an asset to the Grizz and the city, but a potential star and the fricking Stro Show (trade bait) is too much to pass up.

The meltdown from Rockets fans over this may even be more than I have seen around here.

I'm actually quite happy. The Rockets have had terrible luck with their draft picks and Battier is a proven player who will contribute right away. I like Gay's athleticism, but he has bust written all over him. The Rockets already have an underachieving athlete in Stromile Swift. Now if they can sign Speedy Claxton or Lindsey Hunter for the backup PG position Ill be really happy. Oh and I love the Novak pick, he's up there with Redick in shooting and at 6'10 it's hard to get a hand in the face. Ill give the Rockets a solid B for their safe draft

Not sure I would call that depth. Swift is reportedly in that battier deal too.
oh, I missed that. Chuck Hayes should be the 1st PF off the bench then. He's not bad. And the depth should be better than last year's

It's really better for them not to get picked than get picked in the 2nd round. Now they can pick their situation where they have the best shot at making a team and sign there for basically what 2nd round picks get.

After all the trades and what Portland ended up with they did a nice job. The NBA draft is always interesting to watch but there will numerous undrafted guys make and contribute to teams. Hell Marquis Daniels was an undrafted player.

Speaking of undrafted Tigers, here's the most unexpected sight I've ever seen:

Hopefully they will somehow address that PF situation. Hayes is not a bad bench guy but when your starter is Juwan Howard you need something better.

I would say the starting linup looks better than last year but the bench depth is looking rough. One or two FA's should help a lot with that and hopefully the MLE can land a decent 6th man.
