I think there was a video of this on here from some English TV show testing it. Loved the line, "Fast enough to destroy your face". Looked like a lot of fun to drive.

Designed with a clean sheet of paper, but drawing on a 100 year heritage, the Atom is a completely unique car built purely for outright performance and dedicated to serious fun. The US Atom is a purpose built racecar, intended for track use only.

Might be ok if you work at the track :p

Looks like a bigger version of a shifter cart (http://greggman.com/images/karts/shiftkarts.htm).
A “shifter cart” is a go cart with a motorcycle engine, typically a 125 or 250cc two stroke but some sicko’s are using four cylinder sport bike motors, complete with shift linkage that’ll make’em go from 0-100 MPH in 7 seconds or less. If you’ve even seen these little buggers in action, you know they haul azz.

Well, except that the ariel is a full sized two seater, just lacking the outter shell. A 600cc in one of those gocarts would be NUTS!

I found the website from reading this months Maxim (page 44) and they said it was street legal in the article.

Maxim, those bastards. :D

You’re still think’n small. I saw some “in cart” video of this German guy that put a GSXR1100 motor in one. Now THAT was nuts.
You could tell the instant he got the throttle wide open cause the video would get all blurry and stuff like corners and trees would just appear in front of it.
If I can find the link I’ll post it, but it was one of those NSFW sites that I don’t need to be search’n from my work ‘puter.

Looks cool. I don't even think I would fit in it though. If I was going to dump the bucks I would probably go for one of these.

Carrol Shelby has his own shop that still builds those by hand, saw a show on TV ‘bout it the other day.
Seems there were several engine choices including an aluminum big block 427 that Shelby has custom machined since they aren’t made anymore.
Doubt they’re very cheap though.
