View Full Version : Best french fries....

As I sit here eating Carl's Jr. for lunch and finish off my large order of fries...I got to thinking about who has the best french fries. It seems to me that french fries arent nearly as good as I remember them being when I was a kid (is France to blame????).

Anyways....as a kid, I remember Burger King being my favorite for fries, but since a lot of chains have changed the oil they use, I think Wendys is my favorite.

Thoughts???

Bryants.

However, from these poll choices, i'd have to say Burger King. I like soggy fries.

Wendy's fries are always cold and undercooked for me.

I like the waffle fries from Backyard Burgers.

If you can get hot Wendys fries, they are the best IMO.

McDonald's are probably best at the whole spectrum of freshness/temperature.

You're right about Wendy's fries....they have to be cooked completely or they suck....but when done correctly....pretty darn good.

That brings up another point....I'd rather wait an extra 3 minutes in the drive-thru for properly cooked fries than get a box of under-cooked, soggy fries!

Say what you will about whether they're actually food or not, but McDonald's french fries top the list.

I like In n Out's fries because they are fresh cut just before cooking them
instead of frozen. I also like the fact that after they are done cooking they don't sit in a tray and get salt dumped on them everytime another batch comes out of the fryer until they are finally served. They are always fresh and hot when you get them.

It's a close race between McDonald's and Wendy's. Like others have said, if they're cooked and crispy, Wendy's are the favorite.

Ok here's the no bull deal on French Fries. Go to your local Walmart, Target or some other mass retailer of choice and buy yourself a "Fry Daddy." Run out and get your own spuds, cut them six ways so you have very large fries. Put them in the oil, cook until done. Grab a half pint of sour cream to dip them in when done. You will die years earlier from a heart attack, but NEVER, and I mean NEVER eat a better fry.

Now we're talkin. A thread that I can really sink my teeth into. I'm a french fry freak. In fact I'm only allowed to have them once every two weeks. :cuss: I've been known to be found laying on the floor unconscious with ketchup all over my face. :p

Oh yeah...french fries are like pussy. There is no bad pussy, just some is better than others. But if I had to pick...I'd pick Wendy's.

Chick-fil-a. Of the more "traditional" fries.... I probably would go with McDonalds, just because they're usually least likely to be cold. I'm not a big fan of cold potatoes in any form.

I'm not going to read through every post to see if this has already been mentioned but, I was talking to someone a few months ago who said that McDonalds fries went downhill because they went after the Indian market (vegetarians). They now use a different grease to fry the fries in. I remember when they first came out with the new version of their french fry and I did not like them. They are ok now but not the same as before.
