Looking for something relatively new, low miles, under 12K in price. So I did my search and put 12k as the top price as I know there is always a level of negotiating that takes place.

This is what my search has rendered... (copy and paste)

Dodge Stratus SXT (2005)

Saturn Vue (2002)

The vehicle must be under 45k miles and under 12k. Must be either a 4 door car or an SUV.

Wotcher think?

I bought an '05 Chevy Malibu Maxx last September; program car w/ 24K miles; got it for $14.5K; been nothing but pleased with it.

Just got back from canoeing in in eastern MO; got 34.8mpg; usually get around23-26mph in the city.
Love it; can haul the dogs around; load up with camping gear....

I bought one of these and absolutely love it. 25-30 mpg and roomy for a tall, fat bastard like me.

my brother owns a Mazda and loves it. his girlfriend owns a Saturn Vue and loves it. Personally don't think much of the Malibu, but that's just my opinion. know of a couple people who owned a stratus and hated it.

I know what I'd do....

I'd give my buddy who goes to the car auction with my list of requirments and be happy with what I get...and at a better rate.

I had a 2003 Pontiac Vibe. It was a good vehicle, small 4-door SUV. If you get one a year or two used that would likely fall within your price parameters. Toyota quality with GM price.

Those Saturn Vues are pretty nice-looking, in my opinion.

I would also agree with frazod about the Vibe. I test-drove one back before I bought my car and thought it was pretty neat.

ROFL Sorry. The picture is kind of small. A 2005 Dodge Intrepid. A step up from the Stratus you are looking at.

I don't want to rain on your parade but I've owned two Saturns and both have been complete garbage. Cheaply constructed vehicles that don't hold their value for dick.

You can take that FWIW. I would go with the Mazda.

The best they could do was cranberry. What self-respecting man would drive a cranberry car?

While I recognize that this particular planet joke is getting stale it still made me chuckle and that's what's important to me. :)

Hmm. I wouldn't be all that sure about the Mazda by default because it's a Japanese make. I think those are just rebadged Ford Escapes and are constructed at the Ford plant in KC. I wonder how much it would reap the Japanese reliability benefits?

The only down side is that this dealership is a no haggle dealership. The sticker on the window is what you pay for.
