I'm pretty sure that's Apache gun footage, so it would be 30mm.

One thing I could never figure out- how do those guys NOT know there's a chopper hovering close by? I suppose it could be night, but wouldn't they still hear it???
:hmmm:

Remember Men In Black... Secret Black Helicoptors.. they were not that Close.. they had the zoom on a bit...

I trust that my government has helicoptors that can't be heard

You can tell it is cause that of first guy they hit. The ground, a la his entrails and blood are glowing on the ground for some time after he is hit.

According to the preface they were shot from some 2 miles away.

I haven't found any video's, but the CIWS's that they are putting on some of the Navy ships are pretty damn sweet as well. When they were commisioning the wifes ship they turned them on and just the whine of the thing spinning around was impressive.

Of coarse they were not shooting at the combatant with the 30mm rounds, just the equipment he was carrying.....

Joking aside, a guy I worked with a decade back for his Doctoral project wrote a program that reduced vibration and noise of helicopter blades.

I've always wondered how quiet they could make the Apache.

You can't hear the Apache's from two miles away. I'm pretty sure the longbow variant can hit targets from over 4 miles away. The thermal imaging in the picture is magnified. Those MF'ers didn't know what hit them. Hope they enjoy the virgins.

Highly doubtful that the shots were from a helicopter. The video is far too stable. This is the weapon that was used more than likely.

Isn't there a rule of engagement that you can't use that to take out people?

I think some of those "rules of engagement" are out the window with these combatants.

Moooo

The only rule that pertains to that is personell must be fired upon first. The weapon pictured is a replacement for the 50 cal.
Unlike the 50 cal. it can go fully automatic and is as accurate at distances up to 3500 yds. (or 2 miles). :thumb:

If I ever see a friend get blown away from out of nowhere, I'll remember not to peek out from beneath the nearest truck. Man that was some brutality!

No, it is from an Apache.
