My apologies if this is old news... but I just saw that they added it to the report about the 6th rounders on the Chiefs' site.

Maxey (6-0, 192) joined the Chiefs as the club’s fifth-round pick (154th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft. He saw action in 46 games (15 starts) for the Miami Hurricanes, recording 75 tackles (40 solo), two INTs for 32 yards, seven passes defensed, two QB pressures and two fumble recoveries.

Maxey played in 12 contests (11 starts) at right cornerback in 2005, recording 37 tackles (23 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss (-6.0 yards), two INTs for 32 yards, four passes defensed and one QB pressure.

The Navasota, Texas native was a three-time all-area and all-district selection at Navasota High School in Navasota, Texas. Maxey was named utility back on the Super Team of top Texas talent by Texas Football Magazine recognizing the state’s top 22 players at any position.

I wouldn't count him out. Herm has had 2nd day draft pick DB's starting for him the past two years with the Jets.

I hope he's good.

I just don't see him beating out Surtain, Walls or Sapp. I suppose he has a chance against Hodge or Battle.

I'm not going to even mention Ty Law. oops.

Kid started at Miami, that alone prevents me from writing him off to the PS. Let's see if he's got game!

Why don't we start with the important draft picks first?

Has anybody else besides Mario Williams in the 1st round even signed? I know as of Monday 31 of the 32 first rounders were unsigned. Might be a lot of holdouts this year.

This is how it always is, as much as I can remember.

Agreed. I think that is pretty much going to be the status quo anymore. Probably be like pollard = 1 week late, and hopefully Hali Only being 10 days late into camp. Lame. at least the word is that Hali's agent has been known to not be a Poston and get his guys in on time.

Hope I am wrong..

Well yeah, but like they were saying on NFL Live the other day, it might be worse this year... because the rookie salary pool didn't go up.

Um........Benny Sapp sucks complete monkey ass. He's a 5th corner at best, atleast on a respectable defense.

It just annoys the ever loving shit out of me when people around here have seen such horrid defensive players they act like guys who should be struggling to make a roster are "locks" to make it.

I tend to agree w/ you mecca, on Sapp. I don't think this guy has any business no the field outside of ST, or a dire injury epidemic. I'm hopeful (damn there's that hope thing again) that Hodge, Battle, Perkins, Maxey can show something to push him off the field.

If we keep 5 CBs, I see this in my hopeful world:

Surtain - starting LCB
Battle - starting RCB
Walls - NB
Hodge - #4 CB
Maxey - #5 CB

Of course, if I hit the bong 2nite, then insert Law, and bump Battle down to #4, then Hodge/Maxey duke it out for the last spot.

What would you say about a corner who can't cover while also being a midget? He's like the shittier version of Mark McMillan.

Sounds like Chiefs CB starter material to me. ;)

Considering the new coaching staff didn't even invite him to the May minicamp, I'd say he's doubtful to make the team. Praise Allah!

Maxey has some upside. I'm glad he's been signed because I think it's important that he be in training camp on time. I don't think Maxey will do much this year, but I'm hopeful he makes an easy transition to the NFL by his 2nd year. He might even make it as our dime back this year, but he's going to have to step it up.

Carl is only signing these late round draft picks to spite Jason Whitlock.

I think the earliest pick after Mario Williams that has signed is DeMeco Ryans, the Texans 2nd round pick.

As far as draft picks go, I would be surprised if any of our picks other then Hali aren't signed by the beginning of camp. I would even be a little surprised if Hali isn't signed by then.

I think Maxey has what it takes to eventually become a starting-caliber player.

I should know. I've seen pretty much no footage of him whatsoever, after all.
