View Full Version : Rome - worst team in the NFL

12-05-2000, 06:18 PM
I don't normally listen to Rome but I caught a few choice minutes today. He was talking about the worst team in the NFL. He threw out names like NE, San Diego, Cinci. Then he teased us some more with the Chargers season being spoiled by KC. Then he proceeded to say that without a doubt, KC is the worst team in the NFL. I nearly agree. Pretty frustrating, huh?

I actually listen to Rome almost every day at lunch (not a hard choice between him and Rush) and agree with him about half the time.

This would be one of those times.

Chiefs are not a good team, but they are far from the worst in the NFL. Rome has his head straight up his *** . Cleveland, San Diego - those are the worst teams in the NFL.

Chiefs stink, but they are definately not the worst.

I would disagree because we have some better players then a lot of those other teams. Now if we had a coaching staff............

We're not the worst team. We're probably playing the worst football right now. Does any other team have a 5 game losing streak?

True, true, we do not have the worst players in the league. But if you look at the organization from the top down, there are lots of problems, perhaps even more so than in (big gasp) Cinci. Hell, at least they have a f*cking RB.

That's why I have to agree with Rome. There are very few coaching staffs that, barring a wave of injuries, could take the talent level on this team to the new low to which it has sunken.

Well, maybe the Jaguars. :)

And I think the Chiefs hold the worst losing streak this year behind SD. Maybe Cinci.

Don't think I'm off the bandwagon. I still love my team. Just don't see much hope without MAJOR changes.

Gotta go eat. Check ya later.

--Has it really gotten this bad?

Rome is a talker. Chiefs have some very good players, unfortunately, most of them arent "difference makers".

Gonzalez is the best tightend in football
Tait is going to be a great player
Morris is going to be very good
Edwards is a good linebacker
Hicks is a good pass rusher
Grbac is a decent QB

Far from the worst team in football. They are middle of the pack, mediocre. And until they get a running game, develop their secondary and find a treat on defense, they will continue to be mediocre. AND, they need a playmaking, intellegient QB to get to the next level.

It's chemistry and coaching that's hurting this team.

I can add to your list, Ken...

Gonzalez is the best tightend in football

--yep, without a doubt.

Tait is going to be a great player

--Riley isn't bad either.

Morris is going to be very good

Edwards is a good linebacker

--and Maz is going to be very good as well

Hicks is a good pass rusher

--Hicks is better than good...he's got 10 sacks (tied for 9th in the league) and he's only played in 10 games, 3 less than the people ahead of him

Grbac is a decent QB

--5th in completions and a 59.4% completion rating, 2nd in the LEAGUE in yards, 2nd in TDs as well. He's very good...

That being said:

We ALSO have the at least the 5th best WR in the league.

DA is ranked 4th in TDs, 5th in YDs, 5th in YPG, 2nd (only to Torry Holt) in YPC for recievers with over 50 receptions, tied for 3rd in 20+, and second to Torry Holt in 40+.

DA is the TRUE #1 receiver I said he would be, and nobody believed me.

We have officially hit the bottom since Packfan throws us a bone by conceding we are not the worst team in the NFL.

Seems even he feels bad for us about the situation.

At the risk of emulating our Pantload in Chief…

It depends on your definition of "worst team."

· If you mean win/loss ratio, then we are not the worst team.
· If you mean player talent, then we are not the worst team.
· If you mean most underachieving, then we are in stiff competition with the Rams and Redskins.

I am, however, convinced that we have the worst coaching staff in the NFL. I know that some of you will offer up San Diego as the worst, but I would counter that the Chargers have far less talent on the roster. Our coaching staff managed to provide San Diego with their first win. I present that fact as conclusive evidence that our coaches are in fact worse than the San Diego coaches.

willing to trade coaching staffs straight up with San Diego.<BR>

Only if the Chiefs had a GM, imagine the possiblities.

Rome is wrong, if he said that. There are worse teams in the league.

I agree that on paper we are no where near the worst team in the league, but when you go out and lose to 3 of the worst teams in the league in consecutive weeks, we deserve to be called the worst team in the league until we prove otherwise. Rome usually does these things for effect, but his point is a valid one...
