View Full Version : What are our options at left tackle?

Jordan Black? No f'ing way are we going to use that screen door at left tackle. I'd prefer moving Turley to the left side and use Sampson or Black at right tackle. The other option would be to throw Svitek into the deep end of the pool and leave Turley on the right side. What does the collective genious (sic) of the Planet say?

Waters can hold this out with his left hand, maybe it will fool them:

Trent's got a couple weeks to learn to throw left-handed.

I'm hoping that Svitek can win the position away from the others.

RT is as iffy as LT.

Turley is no guarantee either.

I think Svitek will start and do a better than expected job. Let Dunn hold his hand for the first few weeks until he gets comfortable. If Turley can play close to his Pro Bowl level prior to retiring I think this line is still one of the NFL's best.

Trying to stay positive.

Svitek, Sampson, Turley

Anything that keeps Black off the field.

Might see a lot more runs up the butts of Waters-Wiegmann-Shields

Move Rich Scanlon to LT. Problem solved.

If Shields were 3 years younger, we could slide him over. No way he could handle the position now.

What about Kevin Sampson? He was supposedly coming on before getting injured last year. Or is he strictly a right tackle?

How about moving Ryan Sims over? He always seems to be able to stay locked up on the line of scrimmage with the offensive linemen, maybe he can do the same going the other way?

Nah... We'd just get called for holding every other play. :banghead:

I'm hopeful somebody can step up in a big way because LT is one of the most important positions there is for right-handed QBs and Roaf was a beast.

Black played like dog shit last year.

Sampson flaked out.

Svitek looked decent in NFL Europe, but is he ready for the NFL?

Turley has potential, but at this point he looks like he will get pummelled. Two years out of the NFL is concerning.

Outside of moving Waters to LT, I'm not as optimistic as I was knowing Roaf would be handling the job.

Is Lilja still available? I know he was released by the Colts earlier in the offseason, and I never heard anything about that. Anyone know?

You are absolutely right! When Sims has played on the line there has been absolutely no evidence of penetration by the defense. He would be perfect at Left Tackle.

I seem to recall that he was never released by the Colts. Someone was privy to bad info IIRC.

I think we ask Jenny Gump what it feels like to be 42 and she might be able to give us at least a couple good plays at LT.

He was never released. Plus, he's a guard.

She might be too sore though from screwing everybody.

Tony G can kiss any production bonus he had in mind this year goodbye....lots of 2 and 3 TE sets this year....

Hey...there's a thought...Kris Wilson (the elusive one) at LT???
