You had a lot of Evel Knievel toys when you were a kid, didn't you?

When I was five, I think I was barely off training wheels.

Is there something out of the frame that he's jumping off of, or did he get about 25 feet of air from that berm?

that is at EP Tom Sawyer Park here in Louisville, home of Derby City BMX. It's one of the best tracks in the nation, the NBL Grand Nationals will be held here on Labor Day weekend.

I got the kids into racing about two months ago, and both Eva and Dare are kicking ass out there. It didn't take long for me to get the itch and I started racing 3 weeks ago.

that's me in the black being pulled down the first straight by the Chris (The Green Hornet). :)

That day only two of us in the 35 and over old fart class showed up. I beat him all three motos that day, but I will admit that he schooled me yesterday! :cuss:

This BMX thing is one of the best things I have done for the kids and myself included. I can get my exercise and spend time with the kids at the same time. And now when we go on our neighborhood bike rides my 5 year-old is waiting for me and not the other way around. :)

headsnap having a blast racing a 'kids' bike...

the takeoff is about 4' behind him and he is just a little under 2' off the ground.

Ah, that's the problem with 2-dimensional photographs. Hard to get a proper perspective sometimes. I was thinking that lighter-colored swoop of dirt toward the bottom of the photo was directly under him, giving the impression that he had a good 3-4 feet of air under him.
