According to 610 radio, Dalton sprained his knee in poractice. He is going for an MRI. Won't know much if anything until Thursday.

There are going to be a lot of injuries before week 1... might as well get used to it.Especially on a team like ours where the average age is like 63.

And we're on wet fields the last two days...

It wouldn't bother me a bit if Dalton was out an extended period of time. I've been wanting to see Ron Edwards or James Reed in there anyways. Both Reed and Edwards seem to be better fits in Herm's scheme anyhow from the sound of it.

We need as many guys at DT ready to go as possible.

While I agree that we need depth, I don't think the loss of Dalton would hurt in the least bit. KC has Ryan Sims, John Browning, Ron Edwards, James Reed, Junior Siavii, Jimmy Wilkerson, and Arrion Dixon who are all either equal/better players than Dalton, or have more upside.

Not worried about the DT depth at all. Even Tamba Hali and Eric Hicks could slide inside on passing downs.

I can buy into everything you said here, with the exception of the inclusion of Siavii in the equal/better group.

I definitely think Siavii has more upside than Dalton, that's for sure. My main point is that I'd rather have Edwards or Reed starting at DT than Dalton anyways.

actually, I thought he played the run well last year...he rarely got blown off the line...he just can't rush the passer, but until Sims proves something on the field Dalton is our best DT...however sad that may be...

I can't disagree more. Dalton's 1st season was good, however I would take Browning, Sims, Reed and Edwards over him any day of the week.

Are you trying to say the Chiefs are stupid for giving him a new contract......I personally don't think Browning or Siavii should be on the team anymore, maybe that's just me though.

Browning is solid, valuable depth. He can play any position on the line and hold his own.

Siavii is a warm body. That's it.

Dalton was a fairly productive player for us. Solid starter but no standout...

With Brownings age and contract I think he's going to get cut, especially with Wilkerson and Hicks both being able to play DE and DT in the cover 2 scheme. I don't see a place for Browning anymore.

Which sums up Lional Dalton in my eyes. I think Dalton is average at best. He plays the run ok, he rushes the passer ok, he does everything just ok.

He's the only DT that has shown any ability to make plays for the Chiefs since the Dan Williams/Chester McGlockton era. (Not that they were stellar.)

Losing Dalton would be very bad.

Now all we have to do is find something that Siavii does ok, then we'll be closer to finding ourselves on the same page.

Camp: Those four on the line, Dalton, Sims, Tamba and Allen....they looked unbeatable. Unless it was Larry Johnson and sometimes even with him, noone broke through on the run. While I didn't notice some of the other line ups, I have to say that I felt the chemistry with those four and they were pumped.

Rhonda Moss just said he doesnt have a sprained knee it is a slight hamstring strain. That is great news should be back early next week. :thumb:

For having such an unspectacular Defensive line, it's amazing we only gave up one , one hundred yard rusher in the last 20 or so games.

Take a look at how many rushing attempts we faced.

We didn't give up any 100-yard rushers because everybody was passing at will on us...

I agreed with that in 2004, but I don't think it was all that true last season. In 2005, when teams could run on us they did (see @Denver and @NY Giants). We had quite a few games where we shut down the run pretty well early and teams were forced to pass more. The problem was that most of those teams could still be very successful with a pass heavy offense against us.

Losing Dalton would really suck. I am not believing the hype surrounding fatazz Simms. If Wilson is Bigfoot. Simms must be the Loch Ness Monster-lots of people say they have seen him do something, but never any proof.

Our 2005 rush defense wasn't as good as everyone thought. Compare 2004 to 2005, and the thing that sticks out that DID improve was the number of back-breaking big plays, both on the ground and through the air.
