So far this year, not a whole lot of stuff has been worthy of mention, but I have put together a list of stuff I was potentially interested in before listen. Some of these have been very dissapointing, while few have actually been very good. I'm not going to rank them in any order for now, that will come in my top ten list at the end of the year.

In Alphabetical Order....

UneXpect - "In A Flesh Aquarium"

Deadsy - "Phantasmagore"
&
Agalloch - "Ashes Against the Grain"

The Decemberists - The Crane Wife
It's not technically "out" for another couple of months, but it's absolutely ****ing incredible. "The Island..." is a tour de force, right up there with or even surpassing "The Mariner's Revenge Song" from Picaresque in terms of epic scale. Other favorites are "Summersong," "The Shankill Butchers," "Yankee Bayonet," and honestly, everything else on the album. It's pure quality, the whole way through.

I enjoyed Picaresque, I'll have to give this a listen.

I have to agree that this year has been fairly unimpressive so far...

Other than Wolfmother, the only albums I've listened to extensively this year are over 20 years old...

I've posted many disclaimers about the opinion that I am about to post, please don't beat me up!

I got 10,000 Days and listened to it once. It just didn't grab me enough to make me want to listen again. I gave it to a friend.

Music for me is purely an emotional release. If it doesn't get me the first time, there's no sense in listening to it again.

I think part of my problem is that I'm extremely desensitized to Tool. They just don't do anything for me anymore.

From what I've seen and heard of music and movies in the past couple of years, I have only one solution.

Bring back LSD.

The best albums to me are the ones that take about seven listens to grow on me.... finally I get a feal for the sound and start understanding what the band is trying to portray and where thier sound is coming from. It also helps to study thier influences, thier chord progressions, timing, habits (like different Arts or hobbies that may cause influence to the music) etc..

A LOT goes into to making an album, A LOT should go into listening to it.

hey thats actually a decent quote if I do say so myself. =)

Lamb of God - Sacrament

I just started listening to those guys about 2 months ago. They took awhile to grow on me, but now I listen to their albums all the time. I'm just pissed that I'll be out of town when Gigantour comes to Chicago, because they're playing right before Megadeth.

I recently took a road trip to Wichita with some buddies.

We took along My Morning Jacket (http://www.mymorningjacket.com/)-It Still Lives with us.

Very good bluesy band.
