View Full Version : Humor Me...

Mr. Christopher

How many people here are from Indiana?

I've always been curious. When you get this far away from Kansas City, you start to feel isolated and outcast by all the damn Colts and Bears fans.

I know others know how I feel, not just here in Indiana, but in other places, too. I can't imagine being a Chiefs fan in Raiders or Broncos country. I'm sure that sucks worse.

I'm bored tonight, humor me!

It could be worse, be from central Ohio where you are surrounded by either Bengals, Browns or Steeler fans...

When i was a kid, my great grandfather died in Pennsylvania. My dad went to the funeral and called one night on the drive over from Leavenworth. When i asked him where he was, he said, "indiana." I wondered aloud if people there look like Ghandi.

I actually lived in Terre Haute several years later.

Yeah, I don't envy you at all...We have enough of those lunatics around these parts as well! I think the next person to say "Who Dey!" deserves a swift kick to the balls.

I can't imagine being surrounded by all the Buckeye fans, either (and I apologize if you are an OSU fan...wait, no I don't ;) ). It's bad enough living here in Purdue country. I laugh when the Boilermakers get pounded by their Big 10 rivals.

Nothing is worse than the 4 years I spent at school in TN. between 95-99 they didn't really play local Titan games... It was Madden & The deadest Announcer of all time Pat Summerall.

Every week it was GB or Cowboy games.

It was so bad, I missed the Chiefs Broncos playoff game that we lost 14-10 because the dorms wasn't open.

We've discussed this before.
I've did my stint in Indiana which wasn't too bad because the Colts aren't a bad team to watch and they're sorta local (They played the Saints at the Purdue stadium in preseason and I went there.)

Also, the Purdue games was something to do.
So if you think you've got it bad... You could always be in Jackson TN with no team within 2 hours and watch Cowboys & Packer games every weekend with Madden & the feeble Summeral.

Glad to be HOME!

The Colts aren't a bad team to watch, no...but I just hate how smug Colts fans tend to be. They are the worst fair weather fans I know...they could be on a ten game winning streak, lose a game, and the entire state will put away their Blue and White and assume the season is over.

The other thing I hate about it is that they all assume everyone else is a Colts fan. "Did you see that game last week? Manning looked great, didn't he. Think their going all the way this year?"

I DON'T CARE!!!

I won't say "skilled" per se...but I'm a veteran of the board. I used to be light skinned, but then Iowanian, Morphius, Rausch, Frazod, and others deflated my ego and scarred me enough that I give as well as I get these days.

You know...the ball was teed pretty high that time. I'd say the odds were pretty good that he'd catch a slam.

By the way, I've finally gotten my computer and internet back at the same time, so I might climb down from the mountain a little more often now.

Maybe...then again, I guess I could be with my girlfriend rather than with you goons ;)

Normally I just fluster him with the crushing blow of destroying his once loved nickname. But I was afraid that it would send him back up in the mountains again.

Plus he has a tradition of posting questions like this, and I post something so completely useless that I'm about as useless as gochiefs dick at the bunny ranch.

I mean he did take him 5 years to come up with that one, just think what I have to look forward to in another 5.

Mr. Christopher

I'm beyond flustering at this point.

I know what I'm in for when I post on the Planet. I guess that's why I don't come down from the mountain too often...I've got things to do...a real life. I don't have five minutes to come up with a really great comeback...let alone five years.

Well, by just tossing in random crap it makes it more likely that someone who has an actual answer may have something to add, then I can disappear to help other threads.

Time, anyone has time? Hell, half of my posts lately have come with a baby in one of my arms.

I don't get what you're complaining about. I mean you move to a certain region of the country, you're going to be around a lot of that areas fanbase. It comes with the territory. The Chiefs fanbase is so huge that I'm sure there's a local sports bar where you live where at least a handfull of Chiefs fans watch the games. I live in the heart of Cowboy country and I hate the Cowboys and everything they stand for but I also have a good time going to my favorite sports bar on Sundays and watching games with my fellow KC transplants.

I never said anything about complaining. But whether my intentions are to vent, complain, muse, or humor, it gives all the Planeteers a chance to "Rip on Chris."

Alright, whatever. I'm only here once every five years anyway. You can all get it out of your system if you like.

By saying that living in Raiders or Broncos country sucks worse than living in Indiana, your implying that living in Colt and Bear country already sucks which I kind of thought of as complaining a little.

To tell you the truth though sometimes I kind of like it. I don't know if you were ever a Royals fan or not but a couple of weeks ago when they were in town to play the Rangers, I loved being one of the few Royals fans in the stands. We kicked the shit out of the Rangers that game and it was fun as hell to cheer my ass off while the Ranger fans bummed out. So I guess my answer to your question is that I kind of got used to it after a couple of years being away from KC.

Maybe that's the difference: you got used to it after a few years. I've only been away for a few years, and I'm still trying to get used to it.

Really, the complaint is not that people give me a hard time about being a Chiefs, Jayhawk, or Royals fan...it's that they ASSUME that I'm a Colts, Bears, or Boilermaker fan just because I live here.

You just gotta learn to have fun with it. Tell Colts fans that Peyton Manning was tossing some nice spirals as he was missing recievers on his way to another big game choke job. Give Bears fans a hard time on their recent inability to draft a decent RB. Compliment Boilermaker fans on their schools tradition of mediocre football. In short start learning ways to give their fans a hard time it's fun.

We'll see...If the Boilers have a year like they did last year, it won't be too hard to rub salt into wounds. It won't be too hard to pick on Bears fans because they pretty much already pick on themselves. I won't have a problem with Colts fans as long as they continue to miss the Super Bowl.

It really doesn't matter much at all, I guess...I just felt like goofing off tonight. I'll either get used to it, or I will move out...and seeing as my girlfriend is from Indiana, I can't imagine that I will be leaving any time soon.

The "zero fun" referred to Remember the Titans, but I guess you forgot the Titans.

I was also not aware that there was already a "humor me" thread on the board before I posted. After I saw it up there and realized that he had posted before I did, I finally got the humor in your comment.
