I'm thinking we'll probably be just good enough to NOT make the playoffs just like last year. That way we are still getting to draft in the 20s.

Is that dismal enough for you, Jim? ;)

Based upon our preseason play, which is the ultimate factor is determining how a team will do..............0-16.

I really thought another 10-6 season, but until someone does something to impress, I'm going 8-8, reserving the right to go back to 10-6 if they get their shit together against STL and NO. I appreciate the optimism of you guys who say the PS means nothing, but I don't think a team can get away with just "flipping the switch" come the regular season.....

Split the division.

Other wins: SF, Jacksonville, Cleveland, STL, Miami.

Other losses: Cincinatti, Arizona, Seattle, Baltimore, Pittsburgh

5-11, the team looks pathetic, the o-line is gonna get trent killed, LJ will break 1300 yards on barely 4.0 ypc, this defense is going to let up between 20-30 points a game and we arent going to be able to put up the points like in the past

im officially off the herm edwards bandwagon, the wheels were beginning to fall off in texas, the giant game was the nail in the coffin for me, just reminded me of the game at the end of last season. another thing about herm is, his teams sucks major balls tostart a season and turn it on in the ladder half of the season, and in the afc west you cant do that when denver and sd are just as talented and good

no there is no middle, shit like this just tends to happen, but if there is a middle it was those flash backs of me breaking the remote after the last giants game and thinking i was just watching a replay of that game on the giants first drive :(

11-5, although the offensive line scares me (I considered Roaf the MVP of the team). All bets are off if Trent Green has a significant injury. I'm not too worried about the defense. I think we'll see improvement.

I'm going with 11-5.

We go 8-0 at Arrowhead. On the road we fall to Denver, Arizona, Pittsburgh, Miami, and San Diego. Its pretty simple really, we normally lose a game we shouldn't on the road (Arizona) and we always lose in Denver, normally in Miami and San Diego. Plus Pittsburgh is tough. The other road games - St. Louis, Oakland, and Cleveland don't worry me at all.

MahiMike

The good news is we finally have a balanced attack. The bad news is both the offense and defense are now rated 30th in the league...

My revised predictions after watching that embarassment:

- We go 6-10 and don't even sniff the playoffs.
- Without any competition in the division, Denver rolls easily to the AFC West and beyond.
- Trent Green gets hurt by midseason and is out for the year.
- Larry Johnson barely breaks 1000 yards, let alone 2000.
- Week 9 Huard starts
- Week 11 Croyle starts
- Week 13 they bring Printers up from the practice squad

Offseason
- Gunther is fired, blaming the cover 2 for his team's 31st defensive ranking
- Herm somehow keeps his job
- LJ wants out
- Arrowhead sells out for 2007

DMAC
08-18-2006, 01:37 PM
- Larry Johnson barely breaks 1000 yards, let alone 2000.

YesIn fact, that is exactly what I picked at preseason.

This year, sadly, I am a bit more pessimistic about this team.

1) No Roaf
2)Will Shields is old
3)New OC
4)New HC
5)Weak at the DLine, Hicks can't stay home
6)No depth at RB or QB, weak at WR

This leads me to the conclusion that we are in decline, and the window is already slamming shut.

I hope that I am wrong about this, but I predict a 7-9 this year.

Logical,

2 weeks ago I didn't buy your dire warnings. I do now. It is easy to sit on this board and pick at the deficiencies. You may get your wish because this season might cause the front office to blow up this team and start fresh.

How would suggest we win the most games this season? What would be your plan afterwards?

I copied my plan for this year this from another thread.

Unplug the mad genius Gunther and his zone blitzing schemes. Have the corners press and earn their keep. We have given them a lot of $ (and a #2 for Surtain.)

Make sure every defender is responsible for their part of the field. No more.

On the offense the only choice is to go to the Marty Offense. The Tackles are going to be eaten alive if we expect to keep Trent upright for the whole season. Our best players are LJ, Tony G, Eddie K and Michael Bennet (in that order.) Call the plays accordingly.

When we need to get it to EK then run play action. LJ will pound the ball a lot. Somehow we need to design protection schemes that allow Gonzo to be the primary receiver as well.

I feel that Herm is better equipped to run the O (w/o Roaf) than Saunders.

I still am going with 11-5 or 12-4 but can't help but worry after the first two preseason games . I think when Waters gets back our line will be much better but it all depends on how our tackles play . If they play good then I think we can win the division and go deep into the playoffs . Our defense should be improved over last year with the key being how much of a pass rush we get . When Hali gets in there I think that will improve . Go Chiefs !!!

oldandslow
08-19-2006, 09:44 AM
8-8

Roaf + Welbourne = 2 less wins than last year.

A great OL was the heart of the offense. We no longer have it and the D hasn't improved enough to overcome a mediocre OL.

Hound333
08-19-2006, 09:55 AM
I think we are going to be better than our pre-season showing. We don't have everyone up and running yet. Waters hasn't played, ive not seen Hali yet. We have looked terrible but we have had bad back-ups for the last few years.

What concerns me this year is that we are losing before the back-ups come in. Last year we would be winning with the first team then lose it in the second half. I think at this point we are looking at 8-8 or 9-7. If we get our stuff togather we will make the play-offs. If we don't we could end up bad for a few years because the older players aren't going to come back for a losing team.

Really?

Did you have us beating Pittsburgh at home? Beating Cinci and Denver?

This was the hard part of our season, and we got out of it with the two wins I thought we would get.

We could easily win 3 of our next 5. (Assuming we don't have another meltdown like today, that is.) Seattle, St. Louis, and Miami are not vastly better than we are.

After that, win 2 of our next three (Denver looks good enough to beat us at Arrowhead this year).

Finally, we could win 2 of our last 3 (lose in SD, but beat Jax in KC).

That's 9-7, without much of a stretch.

Remember, we've gone 2-2 with a backup that "experts" were saying had no business being in the NFL.

I hope you are correct, and that the thrashing we got at Pittsburgh is not an indication of the kind of games we will have on the road for the rest of the season.
