Blind Guardian is not death metal. They sound nothing like death metal. Like, at all. Take, for instance, these audio samples.

Death metal: Cryptopsy - "Slit Your Guts" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/wma-pop-up/B00005BC67001002/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_002/002-9291410-7024000)

Power metal: Blind Guardian - "Mirror Mirror" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/wma-pop-up/B00000HYXB001009/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_009/002-9291410-7024000)

Quite clearly, Blind Guardian is not death metal. Leave's Eyes are this mellowish folky group, to boot.

Anyway, with the education overwith, everyone has a duty to go see Blind Guardian. :) They're one of my fav bands, the band in my sig actually. They're awesome. What do you like? Epic songs? Blazing guitars? Soaring vocals? Pounding drums? They've got it all; 18 years into thier career, they're an all-time classic metal act. Don't miss an oppourtunity to see them in an intimate setting right in our own backyard.

Progressive Death (like Opeth) or Progressive Black (like Enslaved) are probably the two longest in terms of letters and song length. :)

Seriously, though, did you hear the difference between death metal and what Blind Guardian plays?

Yes, it's fairly obvious, but I was going for the shock factor, and I usually don't give a rat's fart about labels. Just read an article about Anthrax and Scott Ian had a nice little rant avout subgenres. It's all metal!

Braincase, have you been brainwashed by buceyepea? the term neo has no business being used in music, LOL!

besides, it's all black metal over there, I don't care what any of you say.

Suggested reading, you guys should all go pick up "Lords Of Chaos" it's a very revealing look into the history of black metal and the effects it has on the people of places like Norway.

Lords of Chaos is a pretty good read if you want the skinny on the antics of Varg Vikernes and Co. from Mayhem.
