The Boerigter being released thread got me to thinking about this because I dropped $80 on his jersey.

So fess up,what's the worst miss you've had when purchasing a pro jersey?

I bought an authentic Dale Carter jersey with the 75 year patch back in 94 right after we lost to Miami in the playoffs. Back then authentic jerseys were fairly cheap compared to today and I only spent $75. When Carter went to the Broncos in 99, I unstitched his name off the back so now I have an authentic #34 jersey with no name on it. A few players have worn that # recently including LJ for a year and Mike Cloud. When someone asks who #34 is, I tell them Lloyd Burruss.

I've only bought a Trent Green Jersey, but I bought a vintage CHIEFS T-shirt on eBay that was way too small, and the sleeves were long-short sleeves. The thing looks really teh ghey. Good thing it was only 8 bucks.

The only two Chiefs jerseys I have ever had are both DT's, but my family/friends have had some bad luck. My dad has never bought a jersey, but has had Lake dawson and Snoop Minnis given to him as gifts, and my uncle bought a Derrick Alexander(has Trent Green now for a couple yrs). My friend has had Johnnie Morton and Shawn Barber, but he went and bought a Tamba Hali, as soon as they came out so that asshole better not jinx him.

I actually just bought a jersey for my dad a few weeks ago, it is a #86 Buck Buchanon, and had my Dad's 25 yr season ticket holder patch that he got from the Chiefs sewn on.

I didn't buy it. It was a gift from a relative; he watched the game against LAA in early '05 where he dominated them with me and we both got excited over a power arm with potential on the Royals. Heh.

Grbac (this ended up shredded before being thrown out) 4321 :bang:

Vanover (not worth shredding; just thrown out) :grr:

Sylvester Morris (not even worth throwing out - just buried in a pile in the bottom of my closet). Of course, he wasn't a piece of shit, just constantly hurt, so I have real hard feelings toward him. And he taught me a valuable lesson - NEVER buy a rookie jersey.

I'll still happily wear my Boerigter jersey.

I bought an authentic John Buck jersey last year. That I don't regret. But he switched his number to 14 this season and mine says 2. I figure if he becomes good though and people ask why I have 2 on my jersey I can say "I got this when he was a rookie."

I also owned a Donnie Edwards jersey.

This is the problem with the jersey thing. In the past year alone, I have seen:
Ronnie Lott Chiefs jersey (never played a regular season down for the Chiefs)
Colquitt authentic jersey-Manlaw that you can't wear a punters jersey, even if you are the parents
Lake Dawson-Not even close to a Chiefs HOF'r
Bam Morris-Huge piece of crap
Vanover-see above

Wearing jerseys that are outdated is just setting yourself up for an ass kicking, or tons of ridicule. There need's to be a law so that you can't wear an outdated jersey unless they are a HOF'r or somehow linked to greatness in that organization. I can understand a DT jersey, or an Neil Smith, but I can't fathom why someone would want to still wear:
L. Dawson, Bono, Grbac, Minnis, B. Morris, S. Morris, Lott, Tait, etc.
Manlaw against wearing a Boerigter jersey, just because you spent the bucks, suck it up and take the loss.

I usually make a point not to buy pro jerseys for the sole reason that it instantly becomes a waste of money when that player inevitably leaves the team. So it was against this advice that bought my Priest Holmes replithentic last year. The night of the Dolphins game. The next week, he gets hurt in San Diego and hasn't stepped on a field since. Now, if he retires, he'll be remembered a Chief. If he comes back to finish his career in less than stellar form, he'll still be a Chief, but a little watered down. And of course, he comes back with another team, he'll most likely be remembered as a Chief, but I won't be able to wear that jersey.

Several weeks later, i bought a DT replithentic throwback (they call it a throw back, but of course it looks just like our jerseys now).

I bought a Priest jersey. It was a good investment. He's the greatest running back in franchise history. Nothing wrong with wearing it.

I sold the Grbacs/Alexander.

My dad had a layover a few years ago in KC and found a bunch of jerseys on clearance. Since he knew I was a Chiefs fan, he got one for me but had no idea about players. The jersey he got me was for that TE we got from the 49ers about the time we got Montana (he was so memorable that I'm completely spacing his name right now).

To top it off, there hasn't been a decent #48 on the team since, so I can't just pretend it's someone else.

So what should one get next? Ladies jerseys are even harder to find something other than 88 or 10.
And also, how do you all feel about the pink jerseys? I'm still trying to make up my mind about that.
