Question about Computer Scanners

I recently bought a Visioneer 3300 scanner

here's my problem . . . I really want to post pics on the message board like many Planet regulars have.

After I scan and crop my photos, the program allows me to manually type in the size of the pic. For example I'll choose a size like 3"x5" (Something that would fit nicely on the board) then save the pic as a jpeg file and import it to the internet (my web site)

when I attach the jpeg to a post on the Planet, it comes up so large that you need vertical and horizontal scrollers to see it.
the image is nearly 4 times the size of the pic that was originally scanned.

Can anyone help me?

Hmm, not sure. Can you change the mode in your program on type of size to save as from inches to something like pixels? Then save it as someting like 400x400 or so pixels? Don't know how your program works, that's now the one I have works. Or if you are running Windows 98 you could try changing the size using Microsoft Paint...

BTW all I had to do was select the size in pixels instead of inches.

I just save the picture as a .jpg file after scanning it and then resize it.
