My personal belief is that Trent's pocket presence will keep him from getting injured badly but in rushing the ball he will throw around 18-22 interceptions this year and Herm won't let him throw as many TDs so his ratio will not be as good as it was the last couple of years.

I see the positives it is just rare they outweigh the negatives created by the Karma of Carl Peterson as GM of the Chiefs.

Even if our pass blocking this year is no better than Trent's bad year, 2001, there are other factors at play that suggest to me that it will not be a repeat of 2001...

1) WRs are better and faster and know the routes a lot better than they did in 2001

2) Trent's knee was not 100% in 2001

3) in 2001, Trent felt the pressure of being the new savior QB

Cochise

I'm trying to imagine a situation where logical would be optimistic about the season, and I can't see one. Even if we had pro bowlers at every position there would be a prediction of 7-9 or something.

Wrong
http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showpost.php?p=2668079&postcount=16

I predict a slow start and a strong finish to go 11-5 and finish just strong enough for a Wild Card birth.

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showpost.php?p=2540917&postcount=39

After DJ was drafted my enthusiasm had me going a little overboard. I still think 11-5 is the likely record going all the way to the AFC Championship. I think 12-4 with a few breaks is entirely possible, to me that would be ideal given our grueling schedule.

I don't like it and I think he is wrong but if I was an oddsmaker I would probably place the Chiefs towards the middle. I will say again I think the Chiefs will go 11-5 and win their division and even reach the AFC championship game if not better.

...

OK now having said all that:
I believe we will still finish top 5 offense

I believe we will finish in the top 12 defensively

I believe that we had a really awful year injury wise and that balance says we are more fortunate this year.

Defense is now improved to a top 15 but not top 10 caliber (DTs still holding us back along with LDE)

Offense (scoring) slips to a to the 10 to 15 range based on Herms philosophy loss of Saunders

Special teams improve in coverage significantly Pollard is a monster and all the young guys give us a boost

I would say 10-6 is almost a lock (assuming no major injuries) and 11-5 is now possible.

2nd in division with a wild card spot

Trent Green will get hit more this season. With two new OT's, it's going to happen. However, Green is one of the toughest QB's in the game, and I don't worry about him forcing things in this offense now. I have all the confidence in the world in Kyle Turley. If he can stay healthy, he'll get the job done. And Kevin Sampson is a man at RT. He'll get beat some this season, but he'll be solid overall.

No offense Jim, but this is the most retardest post I ever encountered. Throwing 18 to 22 INT's is like Plummer like, and we all know that Trent isn't Jake F**king Plummer.

I guess that you haven't seen too much of the games lately. I haven't seen anything that would translate into that type of play during pre-season.

I will say that Trent's TD numbers will be lower, due to more of running the football more often, but also the INT's will be lower due to that.

I see the fear Jim has about Roaf being gone, he was a HOF tackle and Welborne is gone.

However, Roaf was slowly losing his ability to keep up with the younger DE's guys pressure. At sometime, we were going to have to move on without him. I feel Turley will do OK, he will get better as the season moves on.

Sampson will do just fine, again, as the season goes, he will get better as well.

I don't have the gloom and doom as Jim does...... TrINT had poor recievers who did not know there routes. We had a OL that had to learn new blocking schemes with that offense then.

We have recievers, EK, SP and DH that know the routes. We have an OL that has been with us for the last few years that know the blocking schemes. Herm wants no part of alot on INT's, I see us using alot od quick outs, slants and a ton of running plays with an ocassional downfield stretch. Mixed in with a ton of play actions, I think we will be just fine........

I just don't see the days of TrINT coming back........
