After that draft I had to turn around an do a live auction draft that one of the guys didn't show up at, so we had to bring in a replacement. Stupid thing took almost 8 hours and I wasn't sure I ever wanted to deal with FF ever again.

I was pretty disappointed that nobody went after Dee Brown in the first round of my Auction draft.

Wow, that took some thought and should be very interesting.

Does the bidding for RFA not include contract time, or is that determined by the owner after they officially own the player?

I also would say I'm pretty sure we are not using Yahoo.

Damnit. I thought I got that out of there. Oh well. If that was my only mistake, I will let it stay.

The RFA bidding is not set in stone yet. I will discuss this with all the owners later in the year. It is a very complicated process for a commish to run and I don't know if I want to get that far into it. But, like I said, no decisions have been made to get rid of it yet either. Part of me wants to make it a blind auction and another part wants to just let the free agents fall back to the draft pool.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised to see that in there. I wouldn't blame you one bit for letting that drop and just making them true FA's.

Though if someone outside the owners could handle the bids there would be some cool options available, but at the same time, finding someone willing to take that kind of time could be difficult as well.

Now, if we could get everyone online at the same time we could just do it on an IM engine like yahoo or something. Still complicated but could be done a couple hours then.

Here is the new excel update.

All changes are accurate. If a PS player is missing it is because they were officially played last season and I was not informed of a contract for them which resulted in those players receiving an automatic 1 year contract which ended at the end of last season. Those players are now eligible to be drafted.

Just a reminder as some of you did not utilize your full allotment of 40 years worth of contracts and it really shows this year. Some teams have nearly 20 players left while others have as little as 4 players.

Some have all their PS players returning while others can fill the empty PS slots they may have. You can have up to 3 PS players in a year and PS players can ONLY be obtained through the draft or carried over from the previous year.

The rosters have also been updated on the fleaflicker website. You may not add any players at this time but if you feel the urge to drop a player you may do so. You may also trade with other teams between now and the draft, which means you can also trade draft picks, players, or a combination of both.

Lets get started.

Do we only draft the number of players needed to get our roster full? Any player on the PS not signed before the draft become available to draft? Still 40 years worth of contracts?

This is all sort of odd, cool, just odd.

Only as odd as you want to make it bud. :)

You are correct. You will draft until you have a 20 man roster and 3 PS members so technically to 23. It will always be 40 years of contract every year. If you do not intend to sign a PS player go ahead and drop that player.

Please DO make sure that all of your remaining players ARE designated as keeper on your team page though. Would hate to see players accidentally released to the draft because the owner forgot to do this.

So, can a player only be on PS for one year?

Better that we all know beforehand.

You can tie a player up to the PS for as long as you want. You are still limited to a total of three. So if you keep a player from last year on the PS then you can draft 2 more to add to your PS this year. You could keep all 3 tied up to PS for the next three years if you wanted too.

the main rule is that PS players can only be carried over from a previous year or be added in the current year via the draft. You can't make a trade for somebodies contracted player and put him in the PS or add a player from waivers and put them in PS.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I like that you can do it permanently. I think 2 years would be more then fair to keep people from tying up a lot of decent players.

I'm not angry or anything, just not sure I like it :D

Well, if they are just tying them up, they are wasting the player for themselves also.

Here is the official rule...

3B. Practice Squad (PS)
During the course of the draft, an owner may select players to be placed on his practice squad (PS). These players are considered “inactive,” but remain the property of the owner. Only players that are obtained during the draft are eligible to be placed on the PS. The practice squad is limited to a total of 3 players.

PS players must be denoted in writing to the Commissioner prior to the start of the season, coinciding with the assignment of contracts.

Due to the limitations of Fleaflicker’s web site (as of this writing), owners will designate their PS players by submitting a list to the Commissioner. (The Commissioner will submit his list to a member of the Executive Board.) The PS players will appear on the owner’s roster, and be placed on the bench.

It is the owner’s responsibility to remember which players are on his PS.

Players on the PS are not assigned contracts, and do not count against an owner’s cap or roster limit. Players can stay on the PS indefinitely (even across multiple seasons).

Players on the PS are considered “inactive” and may not be started unless moved to the active roster. They may be promoted to the active roster and assigned a contract at any point during the season. However, once promoted, they cannot be returned to the PS, and other players may not be picked up and placed on the PS.

Players on the PS who are traded during the season may be placed on the PS for the team that acquires them, provided that the new owner has room (or makes room by activating or dropping some other PS player). PS players may also be activated as part of a trade and added to the new team’s active roster.

Just speculating here....

You would let a player who is producing points week in and week out sit on PS and never use him just to keep him from other teams?

Or are you just excited that you can carry over a player you are hoping will pan out later?

Just to make sure I have this right, if I want to sign someone from my current PS, I need to wait until after the draft to do it. And when that happens it will free up a PS spot for someone I just drafted.

This is going to be a most interesting draft indeed. If I mark any of the players I have with contracts as not keepers, will they be dropped before the draft. I have a couple I don't know if I want to keep.

Yes, if you don't mark them as keepers they will drop off of your team as soon as the draft room opens.

Go to the TEAM tab and select Owner Options. Then set all your keepers. Do this before tomorrow night 1 hour before draft or you will lose the players to the draft pool and there will be nothing I can do about it.

Rausch, we had to replace you as an owner. I had been sending emails since last June and you were not responding, which forced me to make an executive decision. You didn't show back up until after I had made the decision to get a new owner. Sorry it worked out that way but I sent several emails.

Post draft rosters.

All players in yellow were obtained through the draft and are eligible for PS or need contracts assigned to them.

Each team has 40 contract years to assign to 20 active roster players. The remaining 3 are members of the practice squad PS and cannot be played unless you make room for them on your 20 man active roster, including contracts.

You can keep your current PS players on the PS or move them to the active roster now to make room for new PS members that you obtained through this years draft.

The years listed next to the players you kept are the years remaining on their current contract.

Remember,

20 active players all assigned contracts totaling 40 years
3 Practice Squad members no contracts needed

Please have your contracts to me by Saturday night.

Also, if you have dropped any players (some of you already have) the player you eventually replace them with from waivers CANNOT be on the PS.

Here's one possible solution:

A blind bidding process. Each team sends in one maximum bid. Highest bidder is awarded the player. In the case of two people offering the same amount, then it would go to another blind bid between just the two of them.

If we do something like this then I would modify it to allowing everyone to put in a single max bid on other team's players. Then the original team gets the option to match. Otherwise, where's the 'restricted' part of RFA?

If we do find a feasible way to do auction format, the team losing a player most definitely would have the opportunity to match the bid and keep him.

How would you go about monitoring a team that puts out more bids than he can support though. That isn't easy to track either.

None of it is easy to track, but I guess you would prioritize your bids and once all the $$$ is gone you're done.

Do we have anyone with good excel skills that could put something together? Put all the names on on doc and then some way to enter the owners name and bid for each player in a column next to it. Guess it would still need a way to make the bid itself invisible to everyone else though. Otherwise, it becomes a bidding frenzy.

OK we are currently at 5-3 in favor of the change with 4 owners left to vote.

I kind of figured there would be more separation on the idea than that. I would like to see at least a couple more owners chime in before it is finalized though.

Yeah, once I adjust all the teams, I will unlock the players so you can drop whoever you want. Just give me a heads up though so I know who to remove for your roster on the Google doc.

Actually, now that I think about it, just let me know who you want dropped and I will do it for you. Once the lock is removed, owners can add players. I would rather not have to police that and just wait until after the draft to unlock the teams.

Rosters have been updated and all expired contract players removed from rosters.

If any of you need other players removed to extend your draft picks, let me know and I will take care of it.

Still need as many draft date idea as possible.

Hopefully the draft is still set for 7 pm Tues.

Are you still doing FA/RFA?

Considering that's clearly been done by now, if so, do I start off with $100 FD's?

Actuallly, that is the one thing we haven't done in this league. Too much for one person to handle IMO. I have proposed an alternate way that we will vote on before next year. Basically applying a $25 "fee" to retain a FA. We have all season to tweak it to a system that can place some value to what certain FA's are worth.

also, at this point, everyone should be at $150. That will increase every year by $25 so next year everyone will be at $175.

Deadline for contract assignments up to 40 years and also the assignment of your 3 PS players is due by 10 PM Wednesday night. Central time.

Remember, only players that were on PS last year or players actually drafted this year can be on the PS. If you promote somebody from last years PS you need to assign them a contract.

You can set your PS players on the FF site now by assigning them to the IR.

Yeah, I figured I have a good butt kick coming my way after winning the league last year.

So, how about adding a franchise tag before next season? There are a couple of ways it could be done, the best I can think of is that the person must lose X amount of contract year(s) and the contract must be for X years.

Yes I like that system, and the way it is set up, I don't see a need to assign different values to different players. If you use the $25 on more then one or two players that money is going to be gone pretty damn fast if I understand it right.

From what I understand you start off with $150. At the end of a players contract you can pay $25 to keep them on your roster, and I assume you can sign them to another multi year deal. Every year you get $25 more to spend.

Unfortunately, the following players are still under a 1 year contract which can't be changed this year.

Jones-Drew M RB 1 You have him upgraded to 4
Kitna J QB 1 You have him upgraded to 2

also, three of your draftees need to be assigned to the Practice Squad. Depending on those 3 players, you have up to 29 contract years used and 11 still available to assign to your current draftees.

2 Owens Terrell WR 1
3 Fitzgerald Larry WR 2
4 Roethlisberger Ben QB 1

You are free to upgrade players from the practice squad (PS highlighted in red) if you want to and can assign contracts to the players drafted this year from the autodraft (because the owner didn't show up for the draft). The only requirement, if you promote a player from PS is that you need to assign as many players from this years draft class (highlighted in green) to the PS. The players that already have contracts cannot be changed.

Well, the only problems I have with it are the lack of decimal scoring and IR is not customizable and subject to ESPN rules only.

Basically, if a receiver gets 1 catch for 19 yards ESPN will score it as 2 points while Fleaflicker will score it as 2.9 points. All of the ESPN scores were about 3-5 points shy of what FF scored.

I love the gameday functions of ESPN and how quickly they updated scores though. As a commish, the lack of customizable IR is a big issue now that FF offers it.

I will set it up just so you guys can view it next week but I don't know if it is worth a move over though.

These guys can mouth off all they want, but it takes a shitload of time to fix the negligence that came with these teams.

Out of 20 roster spots, 7 were filled by players that are no longer in the league.

To be honest though, I really don't want people sticking around if their heart isn't in it. I would rather just drop the teams down to 10 than go through this.

I didn't want to be too harsh because this is their baby but ( it's not that hard) but it's WAY more work than a normal FFL league. especially when the user friendliness isn't there. (Keeping contract years on a spread sheet instead of within the site?)

Labor day weekend is NOT a good draft time for me. I will be out of town that entire weekend. Sunday evenings are probably ok for me (Aug 30th should work if it's at night). Fridays and Saturdays are the worst time for me. I can also do weeknights.

So if there is a team that finishes 4th they are out, even if there is a 3rd place team in the other division that has a worse record. Like I said, think Patriots last year not making it at 11-5.

Yes, you will be able to sign the FA to a new contract.

I'm fine with that playoff format. Top 3 from each division.

Whats funny is I remember the first year a bunch of people were say they would have liked to played too.

Come on guys, show us what you are made of. Take this team from worst to first. I DARE YOU!!!

Fill this void.

It can be done fairly easily with this group. I did it last year - took over the worst team in the league and won it all!

I've inherited a team apparently managed by Carl Peterson's retarded sister, but the Angry Clam Hammers are 2 years away from winning this league.

Draft date and time?
