Heck of a game. 3-2 Royals in the top of the ninth. Sweeney has a 2 hit game with 2 rbi's. Hopefully, they can finish it off and go for the sweep tomorrow against Santana.

Shealy just led off the ninth with a double. He is going to be a player.

35-42 overall. He officially took over on June 8. We're 35-42 since then. Although I'm thinking he's probably going to make more changes this offseason than he has over the last few months.

so the pace has picked up

Yeah. Actually since June 17th, about a week after he took over, it's a 31-36 record.

Plus, the Royals have won 10 of their last 14 games against 1st and 2nd place teams.

roughly 14-43 before he took over. did they just jell or was there something about baird that made them play bad?

Well I think Dayton made some moves to make the pitching a little better. Not great but a little better.

More importantly, DeJesus got healthy. And Teahen caught fire. Teahen got called back up a few days before Moore took over. That probably didn't hurt.

It's been Baird's players getting the job done, but Moore will make the pitching better.

However,
a rotation of Hernandez, Greinke, Hudson, and Redman sounds pretty good, and they're all Baird guys. De La Rosa rounds out a decent starting staff.

I doubt we see either of them before 2008. Actually, I kinda hope we don't. Likewise, I hope Gordon is up after the All-Star break next year at the earliest.

I think these guys may be coming up together, pitchers and position players alike.

I have to say... I was totally wrong about the kid. I never thought he'd start swinging the bat the right direction..... boy has he proven me wrong the last few weeks......

Shealy is now looking like a pretty good addition.... and I'm not going to be a baseball scout anytime soon......
