Well just checked the temp here and it's down to 10f, no Idea what the wind chill is other than COLD!!!!!

Snowing here, just a dusting at the moment, but the roads are VERY icey.

That said, the front is supposed to move in later today and dump some ice and snow on us. While that's not a big deal up there, it shuts down everything in sight in Northeast Texas. Funny as heck to go to the grocery store and watch people buy all sorts of bottled water and staples just because the forecast calls for a 50% chance of snow.

We have a blizzard going on here in Chicago. Wind speeds are topping out at 30+ MPH, the temperature's right around freezing (32 degrees Fahrenheit) and we'll probably end up with about a foot of snow. Once the snowfall's over, we'll have a couple of days in the teens and single-digits.

No apologies needed, CRP. Just do something about this f-ing weather. If it's going to be cold, there should at least be some white stuff to play with.

Bob Dole looked at the Doppler earlier and was disappointed that it looked like it would (as usual) pass north of us. A peek a few moments ago, though, indicates that it's spreading.

Please tell me you're doing something constructive in that warm weather, like golfing, boating, getting drunk and slobbering over chicks, etc. Otherwise, we should trade places quickly, so you can enjoy my 4 degree temp, and I can tan while getting my drunken disorderly charge.

I'm not slobbering over any chicks. My wife hates when I do that. I'm at work now, but I do play in outdoor soccer league 2 nights a week(we play at night because it's so hot during the day) and spend a lot of time outside otherwise.

Yes, I am smack dab in the middle of the Appalachian mountains here in Central PA. Willimasport marks the southernmost advancement of glaciers in this region. To the south is the famed ridge and valley province of PA. To the north we have lovely tall glacially cut mountains. Williamsport is on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River so we have a ridge to the south, a valley with the river and the city, and tall sheer mountains to the north.

Sorry, that was a bit specific, I just love the geography of this area.

JOhn, true!!!

I hated the winters growing up in SW MIssouri - only ice and very little snow and no way to play in/with it. When I moved to Wisconsin 8 years ago - everyone back home thought I was crazy!!

The winter is great when you use it! Skiing xc and downhill(I prefer XC racing), ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiles, ect. There must be 5,000 miles of snowmobile trails here.

The temp sometimes sucks (when it gets down below 5), but the snow is good.

JOhn: True enough........at least for the time being. Clinton and the crew have all but shut down snowmobiling in west yellowstone after this year, claim it was upsetting the buffalo....WTF ever! Damn tree huggers anyway. There are going to be geese that are going to be dropping out of the sky this afternoon from the firestick. The 10 guage is oiled up and the propane heater is ready to go down to the goose pit in about an hour.<P>
