View Full Version : Brett Favre is a douchebag.......

Mecca

"I was optimistic going into this game, I really was," Favre said. "Maybe I was the only one, but I really felt like we could surprise these guys. Obviously, that was not the case."

Seriously though, could he be a bigger douchebag?

I have no idea why the media loves this guy so much. He threw Javon Walker under the bus last off season, saying he was basically dumb and hurting the team by holding out. He blew that playoff game 3 years ago agaisnt the Eagles, but oh that was just Bret trying to win?? He holds the Packers hostage this offseason, doing phoney press confrences where all he does is say what he thinks the front office should do, also add to his on again off again "will he retire"talk.

If this was TO, Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, ect ect acting in this way, he would be such a deamon to the media. But somehow because it is Brett Favre, it is just Bret being competitive, and Brett's love for the game. Gimme a break, it has always been about Brett's love for Brett.

No smack, honest question:

Were you a football fan at the beginning of Favre's career? Have you seen him play year in and year out; did you see him lead his team to back-to-back Superbowls? Have you seen his toughness, grit, and loyalty?

The guy is the last of the old-school gunslingers.

What he is today may not be pretty but those who know his entire body of work know enough to respect the guy whether you like him or not.

Well, if you look at the NFL image right now..... you will see that they like to suck off a few QB's constantly! They have built the media attention around Vick, Mannings, Favre, Culpepper, and McNabb! Notice the common denominator.... They are all choke artists!

If Brett had the track record of TO then it would be blown up. He made one mistake in his career with talking about the Walker contract issue. He's on a terrible team and is old. He should of retired but didn't. I can't get mad at a guy wanting to play another year. I wish I could still play. Now if he gets in the middle of another contract issue he will get blasted.

Alright so it's fine for him to say "i was the only one trying" Bretts track record over the last several years is for him to say really jackass things and for no one to call him on it.....this guy said he wouldn't help Aaron Rodgers at all, I could imagine if another QB did that......

Owens is a great player too, he doesn't get this pass Favre gets. I'm simply saying treat this equally if you think Owens is a douchebag then you should think Favre is one too. Atleast Owens is still an elite player to boot because right now Brett is nothing but a sad sack.

It's just like Owens said after the Superbowl "I come back and play with a broken leg, I'm a glory hound that did it for my own benefit nothing else. Brett Favre does it he's a hero." He's exactly right because that's how things are portrayed, major double standard.

Yeah. . .10 seconds early, no less.

Randy Moss walks off the field with 2 seconds left in a game his team can't win, and everyone wants to burn him at the stake. Favre does it, and it's because he's "just so darn competitive," or something equally stupid.

Well, Favre's white. Duh.

1). Through sustained performance and a heads-down, team first work ethic Brett Favre has earned the right to comment on the current state of his team's motivation. It is the veteran Qb's role to motivate rookies.

2) Respect is earned, not demanded. Moss, T.O. et all have not earned the benefit of the doubt that would lead people to listen to them as leaders instead of disdaining them as selfish, me-first, punk ass whiners.
I love me some me. Straight cash homey.

3) The instant you play the race card is the instant you forfeit all credibility in a reasonable conversation.

ROFL

His team sucks. Bad. Saying that he thought he was the only person who was optimistic is the same as saying "I might be the only one, but I think the Packers could make the playoffs". I think he was talking in a more global sense.... not that he was the only one that had faith on the team, but that he might be the only person in the NFL -- players, fans, vendors -- that think the Packers could have gone 1-0. It's not "not giving a shit", it's believing.

Favre is about the only player in the NFL with more consecutive games than Will Shields. He's taken an absolutel beating and has played on...with broken bones, bruises and through the death of his father, hurricanes taking his family home.

Absolutely. He has earned that right through years of sustained excellence, playing through pain and bad injuries, superhuman performances, SB victories, coupled with being human enough to make an addiction and his recovery public. We've watched the guy lose a father, a brother-in-law, a house. We've seen him hold his pain as his wife battled breast cancer.

Brett has earned my respect becuase he plays the game the way it's supposed to be played. And he did have to go through tough times. The painkillers incident, his father dying, even though he played the game, just I would bet his father would want him to, (Damn, that was a very brilliant game by an individual I ever seen), a brother-in-law (if I am not mistaken) and wasn't his wife diagnosed with cancer? (Can't remember)

And I can't remember him saying "Woe is me" or something like that. Hell, the way the Packers O-line played, they should, and rightfully so, be thrown under the bus. I do think that he should retire, but if Brett's love for the game is there, then he has every right to go out and play football.

Hell, if Trent would happen to throw our Tackles under the bus for getting himself nearly killed, I would agree and support his action. I'm sure the other CP members would agree with me. And Trent has earned my respect as a player, becuase we know that he ain't Steve "I love to criticize KC's resturants" Bono or Elvis "I can't throw it and catch it at the same time" Grbac.

Owens, Moss, and Johnson don't even come close of earning my respect becuase they are, without a doubt, dumbasses. Me, me, me, me. "I'm gonna smoke by Surtain and Law!" "I like to smoke weed whenever there is a blue moon." "I want more money! I'm vastly underpaid by the Eagles!"

Get real.

The Long term effects of years of pill use are finally catching up to him. Favre has done nothing in the nfl lately besides throw his teammates under the bus. The Best thing that could possibly happen to Brett Favre and several posters on this board would to be Trent Greened.

How old are you??

Agreed, but with a qualifier: When he is behind an adequate O-Line. What he has now is far worse than our situation.

Jake the Fake had 3 INTs and fumble-single handedly costing his team the game. He is the biggest douche in the NFL-where is the thread calling him out.

You didn't make one single point in this thread mecca...

Honestly, Favre said "I thought we could surprise those guys," and when they didn't, he realized he was wrong. What do you want him to say? Do you want him to say something like, "I'm terrible, this team is terrible, I should've retired, blah blah blah?"

Sure, he should've handled the offseason bullshit a little better, but this thread is just, well, totally stupid.

now that's an absolute joke. He doesn't manage games...he'll make an incredible play or two every game, but he hurts his team by trying to make the impossible possible. He's not the 90's Brett Favre, he's just a washed up "legend" who should've retired two years ago.

To me, it seems to be summarized as - "I thought we could surprise them, but we didn't"

I disagree put Favre on a team like the Broncos and they are a Super Bowl calibar.

Give me the face all you want but if Terrell Owens said the exact same shit he does it would be a story for 6 months about what an asshole he is and how he isn't a team guy.

He has earned that right, and I applaud players standing up and saying holding out is BS and a detriment to a team.

Class act, great player, good guy, well respected and well deserving of his praise and accolades.

I wish Farve the best of luck in his post football career. Brett was one of my favorite players of all time. The guy had guts, heart, determination and what I loved about him most, was the fact that Favre was a refreshing change from the average knuckle dragging, money grubber, that is the majority of today’s NFL stars. The game of football and the attitudes of the players has changed a great deal in the last 16 years, and even with those changes, Farve remained a constant reminder of why I have enjoyed the game so much and why I started watching in the first place. He always seemed like a kid in a candy store when he played and always gave his team, the fans and the game of football 100%.

So long Brett, Good Luck and thanks for all the great memories!
