View Full Version : Draft pick compensation for player lost time due to illegal hits?

If the league decides that the Geathers hit on Trent was indeed illegal, the most we will get is an apology from the league for not throwing a flag. Geathers might get a fine, but probably no more. Is that justice?

Assuming Trent misses significant time, that is a significant loss to our ability to compete. Should there be some compensation taken from the Bengals and awarded to the Chiefs, such as a draft choice? What about all the players that the Donks have injured with illegal blocks? Should have those teams been compensated for their loss of ability to compete? I'm only talking about when injury occurs that prevents a player from competing for a significant amount of time, and when the hit was the result of a violation of the rules. The round of the draft pick would depend on the contributions of the player and how long they were out for.

I'm not advocating this proposal, nor do I think it will happen in a million years, just throwing it out there for discussion.

Yes that is justice, people get hurt in the NFL that is a fact. No compensation should ever be required in the form of draft picks.

it is a nice thought, but wont happen. extremely bad precedent to set. How minor of an injury would the league allow for compensation?

I am firmly believing that if a player is put out by a cheap shot, the player giving the cheap shot should be suspended for as long as the injured player is out because of the injury.

FWIW, I feel that Geathers will be fined, maybe $5000, but not suspended.

The Bengals should have to sit Palmer until Green returns. If they would implement this rule that shit would come to a screeching halt. Geathers teammates would be all over his cheatin' ass.

That may be the funniest thing I've ever read.......Let's give all the QB's pink hankys to hang out of their pockets that you grab you don't tackle them.

Week's salary as fine, with a minimum to league minimum for their position.

The 'non-call' for not enforceing the rule. Refs give back half their salary for the day. Get a black mark in the officiating log. ALL OF THEM.

This includes upstairs guys with override privilegs and camera for review.

They had 11 minutes while carting Green off the field to get it right.

I'd like to know why if a guys a headhunter an on your team that's fine that's great he's an intimidator he takes people out. People post about how we need that on our team, wanting Pollard to take guys out.......

Guy on another team does that to us and we want him suspended......double standard?

It wasn't dirty.......I don't particulary like to see anyone suffer a serious injury but that wasn't a dirty play either.

Exactly, people were shitting themselves with Glee because Pollard is such a devastating hitter. One idiot even created a thread about how he was going to destroy with injuries all the AFC west QBs we face. A bit too much of a two faced situation if you ask me.

While I didn't see the thread that was mentioned, I doubt that anyone was expecting Pollard to injure other AFC West QBs by hitting them in the face after they had slid and were down. If someone gets hurt because of a hard, clean hit, that's a different thing altogether than injuring someone after the play is for all practical purposes over. If not, maybe we can bring Siavii back and have him hit players with a baseball bat as they come out of the locker room.

Obviously the Bengals should give us their first rounder, since that's what we gave up for Trent. And they should be forced to switch tackles with us.

You could set up a 7 person panel that could arbitrate such goings on--and it would only apply on particularly dirty hits...imagine if Dante was seriously injured after that bullshit hit Lynch put on him in Denver two years ago...it goes to the aforementioned panel and when taking into account what he gave our team and the 'intent to injure' the panel settles on a forfeiture of a certain pick by Denver to be assumed by KC.

Why continue to beat one's head against the wall in reply, when Rain Man provided the exemplar?

DT was a great tackler, too. Think how much better he'd have been with an AK-47!!!!

That's correct. Let's compare a hit on a defenseless, hook sliding QB to a legal hit on an upright opposing player.

Why not go one step further and compare a touch on the back to smashing a sliding QB.

You're a ****ing moron.

Yeah an intimdator like Jack Tatum? Dude, dirty play isn't the way the game should be played.

Oh yeah, I seem to recall there was some idiot running around here advocating Pollard raping the opposing player's wife the night before the game!!

Remember the swell of PRIDE when DT lost his shit and started yanking Sharpe around by the facemask in 98??

That's what us deranged fans were always rooting for.

How about the player who dished out the dirty hit is suspended until the hurt player is cleared by a doctor to return.

Not clean hits, just dirty/late hits...
