we all wish the chiefs could fix everything this offseason...but its just not feasible with the cap and with carl peterson(lets face it the man is not exactly "brave" when it comes to making moves)

so taking into consideration we are projected to be 20 million over the cap already for next year. here is some barebone minimum things we need to do IMHO.

1. change entire coaching staff(at least kurt, jimmy, mike stock) coaching was just too sloppy this year.

would love to see bill parcells come in... we need someone who will inspire confidence in the fans and the players.

2. leaving players: grunhard,szott,shields,

lockett wants to start, only way to keep him is to demote sly morris. we just don't have enough cap room to pay shields 4 million per year. for the rest, its just time to move on.

3. draft:
1st rd- true cover corner-pat dennis is just not fast enough to be the primary corner. we need someone to cover the issac bruces of the world man on man. maybe jamar fletcher.
2nd rd-best interior lineman(should be good enough to start this high. maybe steve hutchinson if he falls a little.
3rd rd- true blue return specialist. maybe david allen of k-state.
4th-7th rd-true blocking fullback,center middle linebacker,WR

hope we can get some decent depth in lower rounds.

free agent- corey dillon

only got money for 1 free agent signing and we desperately need to solve running back problem. moreau and t-rich are decent but neither are a premiere back.

In the draft I'd have to go with a DT or LB, Dennis was a Rookie. Fletcher is too small to play our style. I say more like Ken Lucas or Gary Baxter in the 1st, but I want either Dan Morgan or Shaun Rogers/Gerard Warren. If the Marty trade goes through with the Bills, look for a tradeup for Richard Seymour

Are we really still owed compensation for Marty 3 years later? If so, who would give a 1st rounder for him after the Pats Bilicheck fiasco from last off-season?

Yes,last year Ron Wolf offered a 1st and 4th. Marty denied the oppurtunity because of money.

quote:
If Chiefs center Tim Grunhard indeed chooses to retire, the Chiefs may be looking to the draft to find help at that position next season.

And one player whose stock is on the rise, according to The Sporting News, is center Casey Rabach out of Wisconsin. Rabach is 6 feet 4 and 296 pounds.

Two other centers to keep an eye on next April:Robert Garza, an athletic 6-2, 296-pounder out of Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Ben Hamilton, a 6-5, 275-pounder out of Minnesota. Some scouts considered Hamilton the best lineman in college football, period, when the season started.

TSN projects that the Chiefs, though, will go with cornerback Jamar Fletcher out of Wisconsin with their No. 1 pick because of concerns about whether James Hasty is running out of time.
