Harrisonville, MO--Just moments ago, Harrisonville star Michael Keck announced his college decision.

"I am choosing to attend the University of Missouri next year," Keck said at 1:41 central standard time.

The announcement came at a press conference at Harrisonville High School and ended a recruitment that saw Keck pick up offers from Southern California to Alabama. But in the end, the draw of playing for the home-state school was to strong for competitors to overcome.

Keck, the No. 75 player in the Class of 2007 and the second-rated weakside defensive end, becomes the ninth verbal commitment for the Tigers.

This marks the fourth time in six years Missouri has landed the top player from the state of Missouri.

PowerMizzou.com will have continuing coverage of Keck's announcement throughout the day on Friday.

We will have more quotes, photos, and audio clips from today's press conference.

It's an excellent get by Pinkel on all levels. Keck is the type of local kid that GP needed to land, and it didn't hurt that he came for his official visit on the weekend that MU clobbered Ol Miss. Keck will be eligible to enroll at MU in January, so he'll be playing spring ball.

Good job Tigers!

MIKE KECK.Some K-Snake fan guaranteed that he'd be a Wildcat. Was K-State ever in the running?

Who guaranteed that? What AND idiot.

K-State was in the running around april/may, but dropped off during the summer. Keck chose between MU and Arkansas, ultimately.

Congrats.

You mean there is a high school player in Western Missouri that Ron Prince WON'T sign this year?

Why would a player that good choose Mizzou? He could have made something of himself.

Some K-Snake fan guaranteed that he'd be a Wildcat. Was K-State ever in the running?

A quote from his coach back in April, "K-State is in the running and they've been in the top three from day one. I don't think they'll ever not be one of the frontrunners. I think he would like to take maybe one more or two more trips out to Manhattan a look around some more and maybe some other schools."

He was also thought to be good friends with KSU signee from last year Zach Kendall.

Take my advice: don't let him see Manhattan.

This guy is a freakin stud.

His only downside is that he will leave for the NFL early because he is so good.

Well, MU football is shaping up. Now hopefully the BBall team will follow suit.

HUGE pickup for my Alma Mater.

I WANT to believe in Pinkel, but it seems like he finds ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at times.

If Mizzou can go 4-0 heading into conference play this season, coupled with the Keck pick up - I MAY believe that GP can "restore the roar".

I'm still not convinced though......

There was a roar? It must have been a hell of a long time ago.

Yeah - it was.

See the Dan Devine era OR the Bradley / Winslow era.

It's been awhile, but I'm waiting....patiently.

Do you see a trend here with me?......... :)

GP just took his record back over .500 with Mizzou and the team is headed in the right direction. There's some talent right now, some speed on defense, a QB who looks like the real deal. This is a team is on the way up.

They got some good ones from the KC area.

Clyde Aufner, Raymore-Peculiarís 6-foot-7, 260-pound OL.
Libertyís Colten Freeze also committed to K-State as a OL. He's 6-7, 285 pounds.

There are some more that is considering K-State as well.

Here's an article that may intruge you.
