It's not trying to make it a field position game. It's about giving you another opportunity to score if you hold them on defense.

Kennison and Parker get the dropsies sometimes but they're both world class athletes. It's an ignorant statement to compare college WR's to pro WR's at all. It's different. Mike Williams was supposed to be a man-beast from USC at one time, too. That really worked out. Musberger is prone to exaggerate anyway.

Why do I have a feeling you are one of those dumbasses who thinks that USC/Texas/College Football team du jour could beat the Packers/Worst Team in the NFL?

He's proven that he can be productive in the NFL. Yes, he's been inconsistent. But last year was really his first season. I still think he'll be much improved this year. The only thing is that we may not realize it because of the tackles not allowing our QBs to have time to find him.
Not to mention the anticipated greater emphasis on the running game that Herm has been hinting at.

Besides, Kennison has been playing at a very high level for the past 4 years, averaging around 1000 yards.

WR is a high-bust position. They have several legitimate prospects but they won't all pan out. Charles Rogers, Bryant Johnson, Lelie, Donte Stallworth has been okay but got cut, David Terrell, Koren Robinson, Rod Gardner, Freddie Mitchell, Peter Warrick, etc, etc. There are a lot of 1st round WR busts. It's a high enough rate I'm confident in saying that some of them will pan out, and some of them will be bigger busts than any USC fan would care to admit.

This is why Musberger is an idiot. Let's disregard the fact that he once said "He really golfed that shot" on a British Open telecast, and move on to another sport where he doesn't know rat shit from rice krispies:

If you are going to make this comparison, do it with the school that has the best track record of producing wideouts in the NFL the last several years. That school would probably have to be Miami. Andre Johnson, Michael Irvin, Santana and Sinorice (totally unproven, still) Moss, and Reggie Wayne. But no, not only does he make a totally off base comparison, he does it with a school that hasn't produced a good wideout since the horribly overrated Keyshawn Johnson.

The Michigan game made up for it. Any day that ND's opponent wins is a good day.

All the talk of the SC receivers and no talk of the Punter? He saved a TD on the blown coverage...then, he boomed a punt that lead to a sack and turnover. He should be MVP (he's Mojo's cousin.)

I'm very upset with Callahan right now. Talent wasn't the problem. He sold the offense short tonight. I know we should've intercepted three of Booty's passes, but we scored on the one possession where Callahan decided to pass. The game should've been much closer. The Blackshirts did enough to keep the game close. USC is coming to Lincoln next year. Nebraska will be improved by then.

Now for the positives. This game will not define our season. NU can learn from this. We weren't embarrassed. No other team on our schedule can exploit our corners like USC. All the Blackshirts have to do in the North is stop other team's running game. NU will have a good season and we will win the North.

The 3rd and long sweep worked in the 1st 1/4 once. Then, Cally went to it much too often.

I didn't think you guys were that bad aside from looking like a team straight from 1930 on offense. The game next year should be interesting hopefully alot of the young guys on SC's offense will have really come on. Right now the SC offense despite still being pretty good by college standards is in transition for what it was before.

Callahan was just afraid if he tried to win SC would exploit them and win the game 54-10 and he didn't want people who just looked at the score to go "holy shit". That's how it looked to me.

At Iowa State, at Kansas State, home vs. Texas, at Oklahoma State and home vs. Missouri.

In the north, both Kansas State and Missouri may both be capable of beating you from what I've seen. KSU hosting Louisville next week should tell us something about them. Missouri hasn't really played anyone yet, so they're harder to read.

Still early, so it's hard to really say who's good and who isn't, but I don't think I'd be buying tickets to the Big 12 championship game yet.

I'm seeing people on other boards say the receivers weren't open very often. I don't agree. I thought we could exploit the Trojan's secondary. The offensive line played well enough. Where were Herian and Purify? They needed the ball. I thought Purify would be the secret weapon.

How athletically gifted are your WR's? The Trojans defense is young but it's extremely fast and athletically talented to the hilts.

Pretty accurate assessment imo. Missouri looks pretty decent but Nebraska has them at home. Don't take the cats for granted in the Bill; they should improve throughout the year as they adjust to the new offensive system. The lynch mob looked good today as well. All that being said, I do think Nebraska is the best team in the North and should win it.

The only game we might lose in that stretch is Texas, and they are coming to Lincoln. MU can't win in Lincoln, and NU is the better team this year anyway. Iowa State is slipping. We won't lose to KSU. I don't feel like getting into another KSU rant right now.

Starting talent ok....but USC has guys sitting on the bench that would be starting on a ton of teams. They have 5 star RB and WR recruits that can't get on the field. They probably go deeper with the talent but that's what a bunch of #1 recruiting classes will do for you.

Iowa State I agree with, they really disappointed me today against Iowa. Oklahoma State is undefeated in pretty impressive fashion; I wouldn't overlook that road game at this point, although haven't really seen them play anyone yet (they have road games at KU and KSU starting in 2 weeks, should know more then...).

Right now I'd be surprised if you don't lose 2-3 games out of those 5, 3 of them being on the road and one of the home games being against Texas.

Keep in mind this is an outside view. I don't have any vested interest in any of these teams, and I have seen all of them play this year.

Now, I, being a Michigan fan, am not going to gloat about anything. I'm expecting them to fall apart, because that's what they do. Year in and year out they have as much talent as anyone in the country, and year in and year out they underachieve. A part of me hated winning today because I wanted Lloyd Carr out years ago. He's sort of like Marty in that they tease you, give you hope, but ultimately leave you wanting. But, hell, I'd never turn down a win over ND, much less an utter asswhipping in their own house.

Yet, even though they have top-5 talent, I don't expect UM to finish in the top 10. It's my lot in life.

I can't wait to move on from this game. I'm actually starting to understand Callahan's gameplan. I still think he could've taken more chances down the field. His plan wouldn't have looked so bad if we would've taken advantage of opportunities. Lucky's fumble was costly.

I was so upset by the refs not calling an obviously illegal touch by Oregon on the onside kick that I didn't even notice that Oregon never even came up with the ball on that onside kick. Oklahoma player #23 recovered the ball, and nobody seemed to care:

My thoughts about this college football weekend:

1. Did anyone else enjoy the thorough destruction of the Notre Dame hype machine? I loved every minute of it. They will still get a BCS bowl this year because of their pathetic schedule. Hell, even if they don't, they get over a million bucks for not participating in one.

2. Kansas State needs to improve their offense or they won't be able to hang within 30 of Louisville. I realize L'villes heisman former Heisman candidates are going to be out for this game, but damn, we need to capitalize on that opportunity and get better QB/RB play. Our defense looks good after pitching another shutout, but I still see our offense struggling.

3. KU looks like a bad, bad team. I'm sorry, but they just looked inept out their vs a bad Toledo team.

4. Nebraska was outmatched, just like everyone (but the Husker fans) predicted. Callahan called the game not to lose by a whole lot. Simply embarassing for the Big XII and the NU hype. They should be unranked this next week IMO - they are not good.

5. Missouri has looked pretty darn good in all phases of the game. Let's see if they keep it up.

6. Colorado will start out 0-5 this year, when Baylor comes to town. They might pick up a W then.

7. OU got jobbed, but I laughed. If ever a team that deserved that, it was them.

8. Temple should probably drop football, and Duke should be a I-AA team - at least.

That's all - for now.
