Credit for sliders goes to the guys from football-freaks.com

I may write a news article from time to time and will certainly entertain questions, however, I am taking a different approach to franchise reporting. I will be "summarizing" each week with a highlight video for that week.

The highlight video will include the following:

Touchdowns
Field Goals
Turnovers
Sacks
Big Plays
Screenshots of scoring summaries

Between all of those clips you should be able to get a good feel for each game.

I will be posting the Week 1 video and game log for the game soon.

Thanks!

Week 1 - Coach's Corner
The Kansas City Star sits down with Coach Herm Edwards

Kansas City, MO -- The Chiefs opened the season with a disappointing loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, 44-38. Both defenses struggled to stop the opposing defenses and the Chiefs managed to provide Rudi Johnson with an opportunity to rush for 300 yards in the game.

Of course, there were many questions to be answered and we sat down with Coach Edwards to address them.

AP: Tell us about your general thoughts on the team's opening performance.

Edwards: Well, we didn't win, so obviously we didn't do what we had hoped to accomplish coming into this game. Our offensive line struggled a bit, but that's expected when you lose your two starting tackles right before the season starts. Our defense did some things well, but obviously we need to go back and look at the tape and see what went wrong.

AP: Rudi Johnson was averaging a first down per carry by the end of the game, tell us about that.

Edwards: What do you want me to tell you? Obviously we didn't contain him at all. Some of those were missed assignments, some people were not filling the correct gap, some of it was just great blocking by Cincinnati's offensive lineman. Rudi Johnson is a very underrated running back but we need to do better.

AP: Tell us what happened right before halftime. Trent Green threw an interception with only 36 seconds left until halftime in our own territory.

Edwards: I've had a talk with Solari (the OC) about that. I'd have liked to have seen us run the ball and go into halftime with the score the way it was. I don't call any of the offensive plays.

AP: But you're the head coach so you must have some say in it right?

Edwards: Of course I'm the head coach, but the head coach isn't always calling all of the offensive plays. We made a mistake, it costs us three points, and it will be corrected.

AP: What do you think about your chances in Denver next week where the Chiefs haven't won in what seems like forever?

Edwards: It's a tough place for anyone to play. Denver's a very good team and they have in the past known how to beat this team. I plan to change that. We've got some things planned but obviously we can't play the way we did this past week and expect to win, we just can't, especially in Denver.

AP: Thanks Coach Edwards, see you next week and good luck in Denver.

Edwards: Thanks.

ROFL Rudi Johnson rushed for over 300 yards. Not realistic at all. Better change those settings.
