I know Plummer is a joke, but the Broncos were one of the top offensive teams last season. They exceeded my expectations today. I would have been happy giving up 17 points.

I believe they are.

Again, the D did not give up a offensive TD at their house. Outside of a few slip-ups on the mis-direction plays, they did a good job.

What was the TOP for both teams?

They're close but I still want to see more

they're much improved

but Denver is overrated...they lost to a pathetic Rams squad and should have lost to us with our starting QB....

Yes. They were in the right place far more often than not, and they kept stepping up rather than wilting under pressure. They're for real; maybe not a sub-10 points per game every week kind of defense, but a solid defense nonetheless.

REal enough to handle SF and AZ. We'll see when we play Pittsburgh.

Yes they are for real and hopefully will continue to grow into next year. They are just a pass rush away from being playoff caliber. It will require more talent in the off-season though.

I think it's just a little too soon for a declaration. We thought they were pretty good at this point last year, too. Having said that, this defense, in comparison to recent ones, does indeed seem a little...different.

For real... top-10? Not just yet.

10-15? Yes, most definitely.

16th in points allowed last year, plus some other impressive rankings to go with it.

This year, we definitely make a jump in all categories, and it won't be helped by games like allowing 3 points to the Bengals' backups.

Defense is probably top 10. Offense is not top 10.

The 2002 Donks were #5 in the league on defense. The had a top 10 offense and missed the playoffs.

The 1998 Chargers were #1 in the league on defense. They went 5-11.

A good defense is not enough.

Too soon to tell.

On the other hand, I went into the season expecting it to get better as the weeks go by, not worse. So if we're starting here and get better...

We'll find out after the Arizona game IMO.

We were better last year against the run, Giants game not withstanding. So I would expect us to do well against a predominantly running team, like the Donks. Plus, they really don't have a dangerous back right now.

I think the jury is still out against a very good passing team like the Colts or a balanced run-pass team like the Bengals. Those kind of teams will expose our safties, which I think are still a weakness.

They appear to have better fundamentals across the board and much more speed at DE and LB. Even Bell looks to have picked up a step from last year.

Too soon, but great defensive gameplan from the Chiefs today. Tough to tell how much was the gameplan and the defense, and how much of it was a swirling wind that limited a lot of what both offenses could call.

I think this defense has obvious weaknesses but also has potential. Too early to tell is my call.

I think they are getting there. Much improved from last year. Still some room for improvement. Much more physical than previous years (DV years). They all seem to like to hit - hard.

It's much too early to tell.

We haven't held Denver @ Denver to this few points in almost 30 years. Plummer likely had an off day...

I liked what I saw today. Then I saw that the 49ers beat the Rams (the Rams who beat Denver last week) and I wonder if the Broncos offense hasn't hit some type of wall similar to what KC has hit.

Good lord, imagine saying that 5 years ago.

Our run defense has been 'for real' for the last couple years IMO. It was a matter of the pass defense coming around. We held Denver and Cincy in check in the air. There's good reason for optimism.
