This is release candidate 1 and is supposed to be much better than any of the beta releases.

For those who are thinking "hey, why not?" here's why not.

RC1 will have issues. Most likely some that are show-stoppers. When RC2 ships, it won't be licensed for nearly as long unless it, too, has major show-stopping issues. When MS does finally release a version they think is going to work well enough for them to not get sued you can bet it won't have any free trial period.

So, if you install this be ready to have LOTS of problems until June '07 or be ready to reinstall your computer at least once between now and then.

My friend has had it installed for a few weeks now with only some alt-tabbing problems out of games. But that being said, don't rely on a RC as your main OS.

I tried out the beta media player earlier this year and it messed up some of my id3 tags.
