View Full Version : Hey Peterson! Whatever you do... DO NOT draft a RB!

Cannibal

We all know your skakey history for skill positions in the draft, especially at RB.

The last thing I want to see is another Harvey Williams, Gregg Hill, Donnell Bennett, Mike Cloud, Rashawn Shehee etc. etc. etc. etc.

If you must get a RB, sign one via free agency please!

Preferrably Charlie Garner. He won't break the bank and he has good character.

We need to draft almost all Defense and O-line in this draft.

Here's how I'd like to see the draft go...

1st) Jamar Fletcher - CB Wisconsin or
Dan Morgan OLB - Miami

2nd) Mario Fatafehi - DT - KState

3rd) OLB or CB, depending on who we get in the 1st

4th) OG

4th[via Stai trade]) David Allen - P/KR - KState

5th) Best available athlete

6th) Best available project QB

7th) Jamie Rheem - Kicker KState

I'm sure he'll take your views into account... especially after you tattooed the swastika to head. http://www.chiefsplanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Good point lol!

He should take what I say into account though.

He can't judge skill position talent. Never has... never will.

Frazod

That's true, for the most part. I certainly hope he gets over it - he's tattooed to our a$$es for the next five years.

Quick laundry list of Peterson drafted RB's:

Bryan Tobey
Todd McNair
Bill Jones
Michael Owens
Ernest Thompson
Harvey Williams
Darius Turner
Donnell Bennett
Greg Hill
Anthony Daigle
June Henley
Rashaan Shehee
Mike Cloud
Frank Moreau
Daunte Hall

Granted some were early round picks and some were late round picks. But they all suck. Not one good first round RB and not one late round gem. Just a bunch of average/horrible players.

Damn... you are correct sir!

Thanks!

A good part of the names on that list I don't remember, and the ones I do I wish I didn't.

In CP's defense, though, you did forget Tony Gonzalez, John Tait, and any of the guys from last year who pan out (will reserve judgement until the end of next season).

He ain't ALL bad...

morphius

Cannibal - How many of those were FB's? Most of them were HB's and I'm not argueing his inability to draft quality RB's, 'cause that would be just plain silly.

Cannibal
01-02-2001, 09:29 PM
I think they were all HB's.

The only actual FB I saw that was a FB in college was Earnest Blackwell.

I could be wrong though.

And I left Blackwell off the list.

Fraz - I think there was a shift in the front office over the past 3 or so years. There have been a lot of new people brought in to judge collge talent and it has show in our drafts, heck we can now even draft decent WR's. I think the shift came when CP realized that the FA was not working as well as he thought it should and was getting too expensive.

Cannibal
01-02-2001, 09:31 PM
Okay Frazod,

He's only 85% bad.

morphius
01-02-2001, 09:32 PM
Cannibal - So Bennett was a HB and not a FB? He is the only one that stuck out to me.

Frazod
01-02-2001, 09:33 PM
So he's 15% good. Gee, that sucks....

Cannibal
01-02-2001, 09:33 PM
I'm pretty sure that Bennett was a HB at Miami. Almost positive.

But I could be wrong.

Cannibal
01-02-2001, 09:36 PM
OK, I looked it up. Bennett was FB at Miami.

We can scratch him off the list of RB's.

Cannibal;

I would appreciate it if you would refrain from doing such a tasteless thing towards ANYBODY as you have done, and posting it on this BB.

If I'm the only one that takes offense to what you have put up, I don't care, it's still repugnant.

Thank you.

Fraz - That devil face would be perfect for an "evil wicked grin". The CP one reminds me of a picture that one of RCG's coworkers did of him last year, it was pretty funny because he looked just like hitler.

Cannibal

Having all these pictures up truly shows my disdain for our GM situation.

BTW, as I am an admitted computer moron, would there be a way for me to copy devil smiley into my signature? Something about it just says me...

Yes,

Just cut and paste this into your signature box.

And then put this at the beginning of the text and this at the end of the text, with no spaces.

Cool!

You know I was going to use it myself. But I didn't want the Religious Right on this board to cry their collective eyes out so I refrained.

Feel free to use if you want though. I've got some other cool ones I can use if I want.

I appreciate it, Cannibal. Somehow I don't think a devil smiley will really offend anyone. Maybe that Richards guy from the other board, but I don't think he comes over here.

I have a stuffed smiley face doll - a yellow ball about the size of a baseball with arms and legs sticking out of it. I drew in evil eyebrows and a goutee, and put a Chiefs mini-helmet on it. It sits on my desk, and my co-workers think I'm really bent, which I like. :D This is the perfect companion to Evil Chief Smiley.

BTW, I made a sign out of a coffee stir and post-it note and taped it to Smiley's hand. It says "DENVER SUCKS" on one side and "WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR" on the other. Alas, it seems that both phrases are always appropriate.

If at first you don't succeed... :D

I know Carl hasn't exactly struck gold when drafting RBs (or any precious gem, for that matter), but the only way we're ever going to get a great RB is through the draft. There's no way we're going to get a big time FA RB. There are plenty of teams that need a RB who have loads more cap space than us. At #12, I think it's now or never. (Of course, if Gun is retained I think we'll have plenty more chances at a high draft pick.)

Let Shields go and you have enough to sign Garner.

Cannibal
01-02-2001, 10:22 PM
I just can't stand to see more picks wasted on crappy RB's.

We need those picks for the D.

Even if we were able to create the cap room (which would require a lot more than just releasing Shields) I'm not too eager to throw 4-6 million a year on Garner. If we're paying that much, I want more of an inside threat. Garner's good, but I'd prefer a Dillon, Edge, etc.

Cannibal
01-02-2001, 10:26 PM
Garner is a poor man's Marshall Faulk.

He won't be asking for 6 mil. I can guarantee you that. He's going to get around 4 mil per year.

Cannibal
01-02-2001, 10:27 PM
I don't want Dillon. He's a bad seed, bad character. He's quit on his team during games more than once. We don't need that kind of attitude here.

Cannibal
01-02-2001, 10:32 PM
Later...

I'll check back in on my lunch hour tomorrow.

Let me know what you think. IMO, Carl's draft record speaks for itself at the skill positions.

Right now I'm talking talent. You can substitute Eddie George for Dillon if you wish.

As for Garner, he'll get whatever the market value is. I read somewhere that the bidding could go as high as that. When there's not much competition, and a lot of teams with need, it's hard to estimate how much he'll cost.

I was just looking at the Seahawks draft history, and it is amazing how many good players we have lost over the years..

The Chiefs history is posted on the site as well.
Here it is.

I'm back. Had to pull some cuddling duty with the BNC. 15 of cuddling will same me half an hour of b!tching about it later.

Ah, the things we do for more computer time.

Anyway, I think Garner would be a good addition. IMO, Dillon will be too expensive. I don't feel like gambling with a first rounder - we have bigger needs than RB to fill - like getting a Urlacher-type LB. I think a decent FA RB acquisition (like Garner) and some long-lacking intelligence from a new coaching staff will go a long way toward solving our running game needs.
