I'm tired of unsubstantiated rumors.

God, I hope so.

He seems like a decent guy, and I'm sorry that he failed. But he failed. Get him outta here.

The Neuheisal information is right on. I know the source and where that is coming from. If I tell you, I am in deep sh__.

Needless to say I am not running a story until I confirm this either, but I know Adam Teicher of the KC Star is on this as well.<P>

Neuheisel? That would shock me...

Guys, what does Rick Neuheisal bring to the table? I know he's good coach, but I'm in the dark on his coaching methods.

What the hell is wrong with this board? I click the submit button once, it takes, I visit another site and I come back and the post posted 3 times. I wonder if this will do the same thing.

Neuheisel is a huge question mark in my mind. I love the idea of hiring a young guy, but I don't know what to make of the guy.

Before we get too carried away with Neuheisel though I'd rather wait and make sure Gunther is put to sleep...

If Neuheisel left the Huskies, I'd be surprised. But if he came to KC, I'd bet he'd make a push for Tuiasasopo in the 3rd rd if he's still on the board. A good selection, IMO.
The kid might not have the most talent, but he simply makes plays.

God, rumors are fun. My mood has improved steadily as the day has progressed. First Marty reported gone to Redskins, then confirmed with two third round draft choices in exchange. Then two coordinators and two other coaches rumored out for Chiefs, with Kurt and Stock suggested. Now Gun out as a rumor. All is wonderful at least on a temporary basis.

I will be kicking my heels if just Gun is gone, the rest would take care of itself. Little leery of Neuheisel but a new Head Coach brings excitement, optimism, and sunshine for at least 8 months.

I would be extremely suprised if Neuheisel left Washington at this point.
However, I suppose Buff fans were saying the same thing a few years ago.

Keith Gilbertson is more likely to go pro from the Husky staff IMO.
And he would be a great O.C for someone....Joe
hoping Neuheisel stays...

Oh that's all we need is Skippy Neuheisel.

Joe Seahawk - Your a Washington/Neuheisel fan I take, do you think he would be a good choice of a head coach, and what kind of game do they play? I don't watch much college ball so I don't know much about him.

Joe Seahawk
01-03-2001, 08:19 PM
This year they were a pure smashmouth team.
The Huskies are very weak at the receiver position the last 2 years, so they have been primarily a grind it out- time of posession- wear you down running team.

Nueheisel is not going anywhere by the way so it is a moot point..
He will be a pro coach someday IMO, but now is not the time.....Joe

Joe - Thanks for the info, would be a huge switch from last season. I like the team aspect that he makes sure to have in there, could be needed here. Like always it is a wait and see.

Cannibal

The problem I have w/ Skippy is that I very seriously doubt that the little fair haired, former QB is going to motivate big 300lbs. lineman. I just don't think he can command the respect of today's NFL player.

On the other hand, his game plans are probably far superior to anything Gunther could dream of.

Cannibal - Yes, but if were lucky then his assistants and coordinators can do that piece. If you game plan and let players play and put them in the position to use their talents it will motivate 90% of them, as for Chester and Dan Williams, well maybe a cattle prod would work.

Nueheisel is not going anywhere by the way

Is this a fact or are you in denial?

BTW, I don't know much about Neuheisal, but, aside from the fact that he looks a little girlish, he sounds pretty good, and it sounds like he has a great staff.

He seems to be the anti-Gunther. Isn't a "tough-guy" character, speaks well, delegates, talks of the team instead of himself...

I would definitely welcome him over Gunther.

G_Man

Oh yeah, and he's liked by his players.

Cannibal
01-03-2001, 09:05 PM
I just don't like the idea of a former QB in charge of the team. I'm a defensive guy through and through. That's one of the biggest reasons I've been a Chiefs fan.

However, we do need change that's for sure. What we've been doing certainly hasn't worked.

Why we're even talking about it is beyond me though. Gun will be back for another year. This would be way too bold a move for Peterson.

I agree with Joe. He ain't coming here. He's apparently making a lot of money in Washington, and I don't see Carl giving a rookie coach more to come here...

Frazod

I actually think Lamar may finally be willing to loosen the purse strings a bit, if he really does want sweeping changes. If he wants to see a Super Bowl Champion in KC before he kicks off, he'd better get somebody in here with a brain and a plan, and pay them well. Except for Washington, you generally get what you pay for.

He can't take it with him - he might as well use it while he can.

He just got an extension and a raise from the UW, apparently the A.D. was concerned about U.C.L.A. attempting to grab him...
Peterson does like those U.C.L.A. connections doesn't he. ]

He makes nearly 2 mil a year, will Lamar pay that much for an unproven college coach? I doubt it.

Graeme, That was just my opinion..

NFLScoopy is reporting what USAToday is reporting what ESPN is probably reporting what CNNSI is probably reporting what FOXSports is probably reporting... that Vermeil is the next Cheifs coach...

Meanwhile, Gun is barricaded in his office at One Arrowhead Drive, with his loyal assistants, yelling through the speaker phones that Carl isn't a real man, the players aren't real men, and no one has built Arrowhead like Gun has. Hell, Gun was even going to build the retractable roof for next season and show the fans what "he" did...

LMAO Fly!

Gun is gonna go home tonight and beat his wife for talking him out of retirement.

The above post is a joke. It is in no way meant to enforce wife-beating. Nor is it in any way meant to say that men wearing wife-beaters beat thier wives. Nor is it in any way promoting Hanes underware or t-shirts. Please forward all complaints to jwhitlock@kcstar.com. Thank you

NFL Marty...any chance that there is a deal with Vermeil as coach with the Washington coach or OC coming on Vermeil's staff....or would that be totally insane?
