if you posted prior to this year's draft that we should draft Manny Lawson, and said Tamba was a reach, step up and take your CP public stoning like a man...

I don't remember what I said. Hell I can't remember what I posted yesterday. Someone dig it up and let me have it. What I said about Tamba that is, not what I said yesterday.

I can't remember who I wanted but I do recall posting that Carlos Hall could post better numbers than Hali if healthy. :doh!:

I thought Manny Lawson was more of a 3-4 type player.

I do think it's a bit early to claim success or failure for him or Hali, but Hali is a clear upgrade over Hicks.

I wish I had started posting back then but I know I wouldn't have wanted Hali based on what I had heard. It would not have been based on actually watching him since I hadn't seen him before the draft. I wanted a WR or CB but i'm glad I don't make the decisions.

I don't know if I posted it... but pre-draft I was lukewarm at best on Hali. As most Chiefs do, he has grown on me as a future great. However, let's not get ahead of ourselves... Vonnie Holiday had a good game, too.

After one good game, color me embarrassed.

The moral of the story is that we should shut up and let the Coaches/Front Office do their job and stop pretending like we know better. That's why it's them doing it and not us!

Rookie mistake, jlscorpio. These threads are always more entertaining if you dig up the original thread(s) which concern Hali and post some of the more notable quotes.

Once Larry's dad gave the vote of approval I was on board.

Actually, I interned for 2 NFL agents last spring, that shall remain nameless but we might be facing one of his QB's in the near future, and when working the draft it wasn't a big surprise. Bonecrusher was a bit of surprise but I take more stock in what professionals who assess talent to represent them have to say.

no, that's not the moral....there is no moral...and if there were a moral, why would it be "shut up and stop posting on a sports BB"...that seems self-defeating...to say the least...

I didn't say don't post, but bitching about things we have no control over like draft picks is pointless. You win some and you lose some.

... or like the on-feild performance of the team, or the decisions of the coaching staff, etc. If we can't bitch about things we have no control over, then there is no use for the board.

Was finishing up in law school, kept hounding them and did it for no pay b/c they get about 3000 resumes every spring summer and fall.

Great time and got to meet and talk with a lot of players and front offices guy from all around the league as well as the media guys.

Its a lot of work, but I love football and where else is it considered work to keep up on sports!

Lots of fun stories, sadly I can't really share a lot.

if that's the case then shouldn't have to shut up and stop cheering about stuff we can't control as well.

so what's the point of watching sports at all if you're not going to enjoy/dispair the good and bad of things?

what's the point of having ANY sports bbs at all since we all just need to shut up because we can't control it?

I think a lot of folks are missing the point. It is pretty silly to bitch about a draft pick before he's even been allowed to contribute on the field. Bitch all you want about Ryan Sims. But Hali could turn into a top DE. Some people didn't even wanna give him a chance.

Good God, what is it with these "If you were wrong, admit it, apologize for it" threads.

Shut the **** up, already.

And for the record, I was on the Hali bandwagon in March.

well, right now the only 2 rookies that have more sacks than Tamba is Kamerion Wimbley- Browns (3 sacks, 12 tackes), and Mark Anderson- Bears (3.5 sacks, 7 tackles), they they've played 1 more game.

Tamba has 1.5 sacks and 14 tackles.

That is all.

Wasn't Tamba leading the team in tackles after two games?

I was pimping for Lawson, and I'm not really ashamed of that either. I think he is going to be a stud.

And I must admit, Hali is playing much better than what I saw on the games I watched on ESPNU.

So, I am happy after 3 games with Hali, but I probably would have been with Lawson too!

I wanted KC to get Brodrick Bunkley, defensive tackle out of Florida State, but felt that he probably wouldn't be available at the #20 pick. He ended up going to the Eagles. I felt the next best option would have been Manny Lawson. It seemed that every time I watched an NC State game last year, he was making more plays than his teammate Mario Williams.

Hali was a good pick though. He is similar to Jared Allen. Both of them are high-motor, relentless players. I'm pleased with what I've seen from Hali. I expect good things from him this season.

I said that if Mario Williams or Reggie Bush falls to the Chiefs, they should draft them.
