Even though this is a more open and more self-regulated forum, some of us find it rather distasteful and downright disgusting to be staring at your version of hitler and the swastika thing.

please leave this behavior at home.

I don't think Cannibal means any harm. I've seen plenty of distateful posts on this board, and nothing said.

BTW, my guess is that this only fuels the fire.

KC Jones

I also find this extremely distasteful. You may think 'hey, lighten up it's no big deal', but what you're really doing is cheapening the absolute horor and torture millions went through with your alluding poor sports managment to the holocaust.

Give me a break. The holocaust is over. Whether you laugh or cry about it, nothing can change the past.

Peterson is gassing the Chief's winning tradition with zyclon-b and tossing it into an incinerator. I think it's time for he and Eva....I mean Elvis....to head for their bunker!!

KC Jones

Whether you laugh or cry about it, nothing can change the past.

No, but we can respect it and remember that life is sacred. Comparing what happens in Cambodia's killing field's, Milosevic's Serbia, or nazi Europe to sports team management is making light of those atrocities. I still think it's obnoxious and disgusting to do so. Just because this is an 'anonymous' and unregulated medium doesn't mean I have to just let it slide.

'Hey, lighten up. It's no big deal.'

I can't speak for Cannibal, but i'm sure he means no offense. I've talked with him a number of times on the board, and he's very passionate. He's simply voicing his displeasure with team management.

No need to be a martyr, unless you or someone from your family was affected by Hitler.

My Grandmother had a number tatooed on her arm. She never talked about it and I never knew what it meant until I was an adult. My Mother refused to ever talk about life in Germany, speak German, or cook german meals, even though she was German. I was named after the sponsor who helped pay for them to immigrate to the U.S. after the War.

Cannibal's use of these symbols may have been offensive if he was advocating anti-semitism or Nazism. He was'nt. Everyone knows he was'nt. Carl Peterson runs his team as a dictator. He shares power with no one, Lamar included. That is how I took the referance to Hitler. Read the substance of Cannibal's posts not the symbolism.

I do think that a lot of our strong concepts, embodied by strong words, have lost their edge through overuse lately. Partisan are so busy calling everyone not on their side a nazi, bigot, racist, kook, demagogue, etc., that we become inured to the strength of the evil those words once actaully represented.

I'm not out to excoriate Cannibal [he!!, when your nickname descibes the consumption of human flesh, you kinda know what you're getting [TIC]]. But a little sensitivity is in order.

Cannibal, maybe you can add a "marvin the marshan" hat to CP, I don't think anyone is offended by cartoon aliens.....If you put a Mousolini, Castro, Stalin,Sadam or Ceasar costume on him, your going to offend Russians, Italians, Greeks, Cubans, Arabs and probably PETA if you go with the fur hat....and don't put a cowboy hat on him, my people will be outraged.

I think everyone agrees that Hitler was a complete @$$Hole and did horrible things...but things should be taken more in context.

Hey, I'm as PI [anti-PC] as the next guy. But I gotta disagree with the 100% or nothing rule. I think we can find distinctions between 'insensitivity' regarding cultural symbols and joking about genocide.
For me, particularly in light of KC Jones' revelations regarding his grandomother, this is like knowing some poster had been molested as a child and making my tag line. 'Carl Peterson, fu$&ing over the Chiefs like XXXX's daddy did him.'

I have native American ancestors who were killed in a fashion not that much different from those the Nazis victimized. If I say I'm offended by the name "Chiefs", and the attendant cultural symbols, will you make the same argument?

i agree that there is a line, but where is it?

how many of you laughed at the south park movie during the "uncle F***er" song? I did even though i know many people who have been molested..and have been in trouble for beating a man who did it...

KC and co, I'm sorry for the terrible things that happened to you people, but if you dig into history, EVERY SINGLE GROUP has had some period of "trial"....I don't boycott the Detroit Lions, even though Christians were fed to them....I realize i'm getting a little off topic, and am not trying to push buttons....

Not that anybody in here is really making the statement that the name Chiefs or Arrowhead is offensive but I just want to throw my two bits in on that type of stance...Anyone and I mean anyone who tries to depict a team mascot as offensive is a complete and utter moron...This type of horse $hit all got started when certain people or groups of people just wanted to make a worthless stink in order to get a moment in the limelight.

Anyone who knows anything about sports knows that teams, players and fans hold their mascot and identity as near and dear with as much respect as they do their own name...One of the greatest honors that can be bestowed upon someone is to have millions of people idolize their honor the way we Americans do our teams and schools...

So if anyone ever wants to do me the horrible indignity of renaming the franchise the Kansas City Leighty's feel free to offend me all you want.

Lots of folks around here were upset when Native Americans asked Stanford to change the name of their football team. But Stanford didn't want to offend anyone so the Indians became the Cardinal. After a few years the name change became a non-issue - I guess people got used to it. But heck, we don't have cardinals in California. I hope someone doesn't assume that Stanford is now poking fun at Catholics.

Ok, so 'chiefs' and 'arrowhead' is not offensive. Now, what about 'redskins'?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not offended by any of this and I probably wouldn't get insulted if anyone was attacking me or my family, b/c I think it's nuts to let someone affect you with words.

I'm just playing devil's advocate... not that I'm advocating the Devil or any other demonic beliefs. I'm also not saying that I believe in the devil or god, but who knows. :D

And yes ... I laughed at the "Uncle f**ker" song, as well as "Blame Canada". I found it very funny the other night during the Southpark Xmas episode when Cartman was singing his spoof on the dradle song.

Let me get this straight:

Blacks shouldn't expect special treatment solely because their ancestors were slaves, but we're supposed to be "extra sensitive" to Jews because of the holocaust?

No way. If you or your parents weren't there, you deserve no more sympathy than a black person whose ancestors were slaves.

Besides, it was totally obvious that Cannibal was belittling Hitler, not Jews or the Holocaust. I'm sure that if Adolf were alive today, he'd be disgusted at the thought of being linked to Peterson!!

Maybe you'll be a little more cautious than your ancestors if Carl starts offering free train rides to home games. http://www.chiefsplanet.com/ubb/eek.gif

The Kansas City Chiefs did not take their name from Native Americans. They got their name from a former Mayor of Kansas City by the name of H.Rowe Bartel. His nickname was " Chief " and he is the one responsible for getting Hunt to move his football team to Kansas City. That is where the name came from.

First off, thanks to the guys who spoke on my behalf [Clint, Mi_Chief] while I was off the board.

Secondly, in no way shape or form is my signature intended to belittle the holocaust victims.

My intent w/ the Swastika and Hitler mustache was to show [w/humor] the Dictator that is Carl Peterson. I am likening Peterson's power within the Chiefs organization to Hitler, as well as the way he treats the fans. He tells us were "the best fans in the NFL", then he turns around and insults our intelligence with some the moves he makes and things he says. He tries [sucessfully to some] to manipulate the fans, just like a Hitler manipulated the Jews.

Of course he's not gassing us all w/ zyclon-B, but he does engage in propaganda and has undeniable power within the Chiefs organization. He is the Hitler of the KC Chiefs LOL!

Simply, the intent is to belittle Peterson, not victims of the Holocaust.

H.Roe's nickname is based in his affinity for the native american culture.

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Helvetica, verdana, ariel">quote:</font><HR> While Chief Bartle accomplished much during his lifetime, Scouting was his passion. He was a professional scouter who knew how to lead and possessed magnetic qualities. He entered professional Scouting at age 21 in 1922 as the Scout Executive for the state of Wyoming. It was at the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming that he spent a great deal of time learning about the values and culture of the American Indian. Bartle was inducted into the Northern Arapaho Tribe as a blood brother and was sponsored into it by a Chief named Lone Bear. . .
He created the Tribe of Mic-O-Say honor society in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1925 when he became their council executive and created a second Tribe in Kansas City in 1929 after he transferred there. It is believed that Bartle arrived in Missouri in 1925 with the basics of Mic-O-Say in place. There was an existing society in St. Joseph named Manhawka that Bartle incorporated into Mic-O-Say. Kansas City's current Scout reservation is named after Chief Bartle. The two Scout reservations in St. Joseph and Kansas City are said to have the highest retention of older scouts returning each year of any reservations or camps in the country. The Tribe of Mic-O-Say is given much credit for this. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE><BR>

Then I thought about Manson being a psycho and then I thought about whether or not I thought that Carl was a psycho. Then, I read this thread and I thought about it some more.

Now, let me say that I recognize and respect the rights that we all share in this country. But, please hear me out, if for whatever reason, someone came on this site from another one and did not know Cannibal, they may really draw a wrong conclusion from the picture seeing how, as of right now, THE HC FOR OUR TEAM IS GERMAN.

Cannibal has the right to print what he wants, providing it is not pornographic or threatening to individuals.

That said, Cannibal and Clint are just to ridiculous to rebuke while comparing the world's largest mass murderer to a football General Manager. I see no negative posts from them when talking of Parcells, Holmgren, or Snyder and their "Gotta be me" attitudes.

If they dislike Peterson and disagree with his methodology and decisions, I can sometimes agree with them. If they believe he is something akin to a man who believed that killing an entire sect of the world because of their faith, then they are about as far from reality as is legally possible without some sort of balancing medication for their delusions.

This is impossible, if not a product of ignorance. A mathematician with statistical and psychological training might enlighten you that given the continuum of data representing a person's possible level of ANY thinking trait, you will find that no one can achieve an endpoint of 100 percent, or zero percent for that matter. THIS is comparing the two:

SIMILARITIES BETWEEN CARL PETERSON AND ADOLF HITLER:

Hitler: Systematically exterminated over 6 million jews in a 6 year period
Peterson: Signed Lew Bush and Carlton Gray in a 2 year period.

Hitler: Re-used items taken from his victims, including fillings and skin.
Peterson: Re-uses stolen wardrobe of Huggy Bear from "Starsky and Hutch".

MCF - Thanks! I'm gonna try a disco ball here in a minute. It's not too difficult, and with some practice, I'll bet that you'll be able to do it too. This may help:

Always remember, in order to post pictures on the threads, they must be from an active website. You cannot use pictures from your HD unless you have them posted on a site.

1. To include the image, type "", then
2. Type the web address for the picture that you would like to use "http://izan.simplenet.com/images/move3.gif" (this addy may show up as a link in this format).
3. Type "" after the web-picture address.

So, the code looks something like this:

Get rid of the quotation marks (beginning, end, and around the picture-address), and it appears like this:

Maybe someone should do a little research and find out if the Jewish population of the KC area is rapidly declining!!

I THOUGHT I saw a huge smokestack near Arrowhead!!

Cannibal - I never said I was offended. I merely stated that your allusions are assinine.

BTW Cannibal - I would take just as much offense to the hammer and sickle - after all, oppression for the succesful to support the lazy is the basis of liberalism, er I mean communism.

Clint,
That was bad, man. It was so bad, I actually laughed loudly.

Please, i'm not an anti-semite.

MCF - There are many sites out there that will host a personal site for you. I still need to do that as well. I have some funny pics to post some day. Not to mention that a couple of hours with the pics from Dole's site and a photoshop program could really make things interesting.

Hmmm, now what shall I use...

No sh!t Wolfman!

That is what you claim Clinton supports! So to you the hammer and sickle would be fitting. <P>

Disco,
You should make the Travolta picture your signature.

You can always resize it using the "image size" HTML tags. http://www.chiefsplanet.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks HC! I just added it as my sig, so I'll have to go back and do the size tags. :D

The face is a little foggy now that I shrunk it down.

It probably won't go much smaller.

Oh well, you can use it if you want.

Being of almost 100% German background I was raised to be very aware of the holocost and learn from its occurence. It was a terrible event which must never be allowed to happen again. With that said...

...as far as saying Cannible's (-spelling?) posts are offensive and rude... Get a life. If the world needs anything its more people to have a sense of humor and less people looking for things to complain and say "poor me" about.

Just one Otters opinion

I'm also a 'Kraut' ;), and I say the same thing Otter.

Can't we all just get along.
