They said he was OK but would be in better condition if Vermeil was still the coach.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowl running back Larry Johnson was injured on a facemask tackle at the end of a 78-yard pass play late in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Johnson broke free down the left sideline after the short pass. The Cardinals' Antrel Rolle grabbed Johnson by the facemask and the running back's head was twisted as he fell out of bounds at the Arizona 8. He lay motionless for a moment but eventually got up and left the field under his own power.

"All I remember is trying to get back on my feet and try to move around and see if everything was working," Johnson said. "I wanted to be safe about it and see if there was really something wrong or not."

Rolle was called for a personal foul on the play.

Johnson planned to have an MRI on Monday.

I predict you are wrong. If there is any doubt this is the one throw away game we have left anyway. The odds against winning are phenomenal no point in getting him seriously hurt in that kind of game. Play a game like we played against Denver and hope for the best.

Holy crap...

Even after a pretty great win, the sky is falling.

LJ is fine. He's gonna be sore, but he's fine. He'll be 100% I'm sure. We're actually a pretty decent team here, and our defense is significantly improved. We have shown that we are capable of moving th ball and scoring points, and we have shown that we are capable of shutting people down too. No reason we can't beat a struggling Pittsburgh. And frankly, if you think we can "throw away" a team who we will likely be battling for a wild card spot against, or have play in the first round if we win the West, then you're NUTS.

In the NFL, there is no such thing as a throwaway game(unless you're playing the raiders). Every single game counts, its not like Baseball where you can sit a guy out for a couple of games. Every single game counts, and a team would show very little class if they didnt treat it that way.

Yep MRI tomorrow will let us know whats up. I get the feeling he will play next week. THANK GOD.

Dee Brown scares the crap outta me. Dammit Bennet :banghead:

And yeah, hopefully LJ will cure that fumbleitis up soon. We are not going to be good enough to come back like that again very often.

Neck strains aren't the type of thing to keep running backs out of NFL games. He'll be fine.

Unless there is a real problem on the MRI, in which case we'll probably lose him for more than a week. cross your fingers.

OMG we beat SF solidly and eeked out a win against Zona and suddenly we are good. :rolleyes:I'm not going to make any claims about how good we are, but the premise that this is a throw-away game is ridiculous. There are no throw-away games in week 5 of the NFL season.

Not that I really want to see a replay, but could anyone tell if that was really his head twisted around past the 90 degree point, or if by that point his helmet had twisted around on top of his head? I think that would make a big difference, but couldn't tell.

Logical, you know what? Your a douche.

I don't think you know anything about Football and the psyche of the players that are in the NFL. Johnson is a horse and unless he's seriously hurt he'll play. Same with Trent. You simply don't rest players because you think you might lose. If ANY player or coach thought like that they'd of NEVER made it to the NFL. Get a clue man or better yet just shut up.

Here's a link to the high-res version of the picture. If you look closely, looks like his nose is to the far left-side of the opening in the face mask. I'd say he's at about a 95-degree turn from "normal." It looks FAR worse than it really was.

I can't remember where I read it, but I think someone posted a post-game quote from LJ that basically said that the only reason he laid on the ground like he did was because that's what you're SUPPOSED to do when you could have a serious neck/back injury. He just wanted to make sure he hadn't paralyzed himself before trying to move again, so he laid there and let the doctors do their job. He probably could have gotten up and moved on in the game.
