SP2 is OK if you don't have pirated software.

As for USB 2.0 with SP1, you can go the microsoft updates and get an update for your USB 2.0 with SP1

I don't know what the difference is. If I were you I wouldn't waste the time if SP1 or whatever works.

SP2 integrates a ton of security enhancements. If you were talking about a system that was already working perfectly, I might say no. However, since you're talking about a new install, you might as well. Otherwise, you're opening yourself up to a number of security holes.

SP1a has the necessary files to upgrade your USB2

SP2 is OK if you don't have pirated software.

SP2 does not mess with pirated windows unless you allow the windows update to install the "Windows Guinuine Authentication" tool.

If you DO accidently install this patch, it will install a delay timer on windows startup, and place an annoying icon down in your taskbar.

The way to get rid of this is to go into the registry and do a search for "WGA". When you find the WGA entry, delete it and press F3 for a find next. Delete everything you find for WGA and reboot and it will be gone. Next time it try's to download through Windows Update, uncheck the box and tell it never to ask you about that patch again.
