KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that FB Ronnie Cruz underwent knee surgery this week and has been placed on Injured Reserve. The club also agreed to terms of a two-year contract with free agent FB Greg Hanoian and added TE Keith Willis to the practice squad. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreements were made available.

Hanoian (6-2, 263) joins the Chiefs as a free agent. He spent training camp with the N.Y. Giants in 2006 after signing with the club on January 17th. He was allocated to NFL Europe by the N.Y. Giants for the 2006 season, attending training camp with the Rhein Fire. Hanoian spent portions of the 2005 season on the Green Bay Packers practice squad after originally entering the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Detroit Lions in 2005.

The Providence, Rhode Island native was a two-year letter winner at Syracuse. He saw action at linebacker, tight end and fullback for the Orange, logging a career rushing average of 5.6 yards per carry. Hanoian had 10 carries for 41 yards and caught five passes for 24 yards and a touchdown as a senior in 2004. Hanoian was a teammate of current Chiefs LB Rich Scanlon while at Syracuse.

Willis (6-6, 260) joins the Chiefs after attending training camp with Seattle this season. He was allocated to NFL Europe, spending the 2006 NFLEL campaign with the Frankfurt Galaxy catching 18 passes for 290 yards (16.1 avg.) and one touchdown. Willis was a teammate of current Chiefs T Will Svitek on the 2006 Galaxy squad that won the 2006 NFLEL championship. Willis originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Green Bay Packers in 2004. After being released prior to the 2004 regular season, he spent time on Cleveland’s practice squad. Willis attended training camp with Cleveland in 2005.

The Norfolk, Virginia native caught 14 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns at Virginia Tech. Willis prepped at Norview High School in Norfolk, Va. where he was named the number seven tight end in the nation by SuperPrep.
