As Joe Stalin once said, "It's not who votes that counts, it's who counts the votes." No muss, no fuss, no paper trail. Yay Diebold!

Officials Probing Possible Theft of Voting Software in Md.

The FBI is investigating the possible theft of software developed by the nation's leading maker of electronic voting equipment, said a former Maryland legislator who this week received three computer disks that apparently contain key portions of programs created by Diebold Election Systems.

Cheryl C. Kagan, a former Democratic delegate who has long questioned the security of electronic voting systems, said the disks were delivered anonymously to her office in Olney on Tuesday and that the FBI contacted her yesterday. The package contained an unsigned letter critical of Maryland State Board of Elections Administrator Linda H. Lamone that said the disks were "right from SBE" and had been "accidentally picked up."

I think we just need to go back to paper ballots. Who knows, maybe if we go back to paper ballots the actual vote will come closer to matching the exit polls.

If you think the exit polls represent ground truth, why not do away with the ballots altogether?

I think a better conclusion to draw is that the exit polling methodology (most likely the assumptions on which the calculations are based) is flawed as demonstrated by the actual vote counts.

Until lately, exit polls have been very reliable. they have always been one way of detecting fraud.

But when you consider the funny business that went on in Florida in 2000 and in Ohio in 2004, voter intimidation and disenfranchisement, and the Diebold company's political advocacy of George W. Bush, I'd say that the reliability of the machinery is only one question about electronic voting that gnaws at our democracy.

The only reason I can come up with that anyone doesn't want to [Fix the electronic voting system] is that you are all for fraud in the system.

I alway lie to exit poll takers just to mess with them.
Personnally
Any poll news should be censored untill ALL of the US poll have closed.
to avoid baising folks that have not voted.

I agree about waiting until the polls are closed but why on earth would you lie? Exit polls are a reliable tool for detecting fraud and good for democracy. Lying to an exit pollster is exactly what people like Karl Rove would encourage you to do. They're all about undermining checks and balances.

Do your patriotic duty and tell the exit pollsters the truth.
