View Full Version : What Do You Do Best?

I've noticed that, as Planeteers, we spend a great deal of valuable keyboard time telling each other that we suck at stuff. In fact, if one believed everything one read here, one might come away with the impression that we pretty much suck at everything.

Now, although it is an undeniable and incontrovertible truth that the goat trolls do, in fact, suck at everything, I'm pretty sure that's not the case with Chiefs fans. So, I decided to take it upon myself to create this thought-provoking, inspiring, and self-confidence building thread entitled, "What Do You Do Best?"

I'm sure someone will post an immediate "this thread sucks" reply, But, I'm honestly curious to know about your greatest skill. Everyone has gifts, competencies, and strong points and I know that we have some highly talented people on the Planet, so I'm wondering what you guys do best. Is it skinning rabbits? Building web sites? Stealing cigarettes from hobos? Picking out rocks? Making creamed corn? Cunnilingus? Don't be shy, let your inner light glow with pride, and remember, there's a shiny gold participation star for every response!

Disclaimers: Sorry if repost. Sorry if immodest post.

I'm really good at doing nothing. I can go an entire week doing all sorts of things in all sorts of places and really never accomplish anything or do anything meaningful or of any special significance or importance to anyone. I can walk in to a cafe, order some coffee, walk out without paying and I bet nobody would even notice. I could lie in the street all day without moving and I bet no one would even stop to see if I was dead. This leads me to beleive I would be a great for the CIA. Not a James Bond killin people blowin shit up kinda spy but a real spy that infiltrates enemy ranks and never gets caught because no one would even notice me since I never do anything that would deserve noticing.

That sounds really interesting and exciting. How close did you come to getting eaten? In all my years of diving, I only got chased out of the water by sharks one time. Rowdy black-tips in the British Virgin Islands.... when they started getting frisky & darting at me I climbed up on a coral head & got pulled off by a Zodiac. Big sharks usually keep their distance, like they don't like the sound of bubbles or something. What really spooked me was getting grabbed by a giant octopus near the Oregon border. Sucker was really strong, but let go after a few seconds when he figured I was too big to eat.

I had been wondering....There's a big difference between a foosball partner and a life partner.
Although if you get good at foosball, you don't have much of a life
:p

I'm good at public speaking, I'm a good setter in volleyball, and I'd like to think I'm good at looking at people's hearts and loving them for who they are.

I've noticed that, as Planeteers, we spend a great deal of valuable keyboard time telling each other that we suck at stuff. In fact, if one believed everything one read here, one might come away with the impression that we pretty much suck at everything.

FAXYep, that's it, definitely skinning rabbits. But I leave the sewing of the rabbit skins to the women folk.

Or, you're Charlie Brown.

I'm good at being an old guy, but I usta be great in the water. Spent most of my working life as a professional diver in the fields of oceanography & marine archaeology. Also led SCUBA tours for the Cousteau Society as a Divemaster. Free diving over 100 ft was too easy for me. Usta swim with dolphins & whales and rode sea turtles & mantas. Now, I'm just an old guy.

Surely you still stay involved with diving.

I'm a good cook... a decent writer. I watch movies really well. I can talk about movies with the best of them. I sing a little. I used to think I was a good video editor, but not so much anymore. I make good film treatments. Not so great at executing those treatments. I am a good director... give me an actor and I can get what I want out of him. I'm a good script editor... I can't come up with the idea, but I can make one idea better.

I sure wish you'd send me some of your video stuff some day. I'm a pretty good judge of a good editor vs. a bad editor.

" Picking out rocks?"
that's what i do best...for over 35 years i've walked rivers and fields across the midwest searching for native american artifacts. i've found over 300 arrowheads, axes, celts, etc.

my sons say the collection is going to come in handy. they plan on selling it to pay for my nursing home when they have me commited.
sec

You should share photos of your collection.

I have to say being a dad. We have been told that our kids are the most happy, intelligent and well-behaved children that they have encountered.

Specifically happiest. They are rarely EVER upset and they listen well.

Plus, I have spent a lot of time with my son, helping him become the best at whatever it is that he enjoys most. He loves baseball and drumming... so I spend a lot of time helping him excel at what he loves.

Plus like, Phobia... Im good at eating.

There is NOTHING more important than being a great Dad. I envy the happiness and satisfaction this must bring you.

I'm a pretty decent DJ....know how to build a crowd and take 'em where I want them to go...

I have a Bo Jackson-like arm in either baseball or softball....

I'm the king of 80's music trivia...

I'm decent at a lot of things, but not an expert at any one thing.

Did anyone mention drinking like Dean Martin????

A Redrum Post!

Ooooooooo.....

Very Rare.

When I was younger I was a really good foosball player. At Mizzou never lost a 2 out of 3 game series in four years with my partner, a guy from Grandview who was excellent.

I can also cook and bbq well. Pretty good at Photoshop, but not great.

Do you still find suckers to play foosball with?

There is a HUGE difference at parties, clubs, etc. between a good DJ and a bad one. Good DJ's can make or break an evening. I too can compete with Dino in the drinking dept.

I'm good at song writing unfortunately I'm only average as a singer and below average as a guitar player so no one wants me in their band. I thought about having other people play my songs but they always change them to fit their style and that drives me nuts, which leads me to the other thing I'm good at, being obsessive compulsive.

Have you ever heard Paul Williams perform? :) His success was song writing, but he had a pretty good career as a shitty singer and average musician.

Do you still find suckers to play foosball with?Every once in awhile I'll play some frat rat college guy just for fun. I used to own 3 foosball tables, gave two away, kept the Tornado table. That one is my favorite.
