If that is what gaming is going to cost then count me out. That price tag is ridiculous.

It is until you start to see what all you get for that money.
60 Gig hard drive(how much was a 30 gig I-Pod when it first came out?)
built in Wi-Fi
HDMI
Blu-ray(HD movies as well as games)
Cell processor-state of the art processor
FREE On-line gaming
Internet access
Blue-tooth wireless technology-wireless joysticks with 30 hour battery life before rechargeing
USB ports, flash media
Backwards compatiability for the Play Station library

Just name a few things.

We'll see how much of that Sony actually delivers. I remember when I first bought my PS2...

That was lame. I don't know, I guess it scares people who like baseball.

The only thing that scares me about the commercial is the small loan I'll need to take out so I can afford one.....

I'm assuming you are saying you weren't/aren't pleased with the PS products?

To each his own.

The only reason I brought it up on this thread is because I keep seeing all of these posts hyping Sony technology.

Remember the "emotion engine"?

Remember when they told us that the Playstation 2 would be "internet ready"?

I try not to get caught into all the hype and decipher between what is said and what is actually delivered. The SPECS tell the story and what you, the end user, appreciates from a gaming standpoint.

As far as internet ready for the PS2 thing- it DID have ON-LINE capiabilities. It didn't come with a PS2 console, but it was obviously capable of playing on-line.

Some of it IS Hype or coaches speak as you put it, just that Sony has a bigger team. Marketing will always attempt to make their products superior-that's commercialism at it's roots. Microsoft has told some half-truths and fabrications as well. They all "spin".

Sure, M$ has done it's share.

I guess my problem is more with the fanboy scene. Microsoft has done so much to be universally hated that it seems far more prevalent with the PS3. I'm just tired of being told how great it's gonna be...

Bill Simmons on ESPN.com said he got a chance to play the PS3 a few days ago... said to start buying Sony stock. He was joking, but I'm not sure it matters, most people seem to be fanboys one way or the other regardless.
