I noticed in the other threads there was some disdain for Neil Smith being put on the ring of fame. I accidentally happened to stumbled upon this 1997 interview with Bob Costas going thru my vintage games. So now in all fairness, you can hear both sides of the story and make your own decision on the matter.

Just go to www.kcchiefsgames.com, click on "gameroom" then "Neil Smith" link.

It's a national tragedy that Neil Smith had to leave the Chiefs, much less go to that skid row place. What a sad, sad ending.

There is a snippet of that great commercial with Thomas and Smith, now I would love to find that somewhere in my collection.

Just another reason to hat Carl:cuss:. It sucks that Neil went to the Doncos - it doesn't erase what he did as/for the Chiefs. I am glad he is in the ring of fame.

**** Neil. He had that horrible year in 96 and expected Carl to back the brinks truck up for him. When he tried the FA market and when nobody wanted to overpay for his lagging productivity, he ran to the donks like a little bitch. He had a lot of great years for us but you don't have a shitty year and then expect to get the huge contract you want. He ran directly to the donks to spite us because we didn't cave in to his outrageous initial contract demands.

PD,

Thats the way I remember it as well...

From what I understand, Neil was given an offer earlier
in the year, but turned it down, thinking he would reap a
big paycheck in FA. When that didnt happen, he came
running back to Carl wanting the same deal....Carl said no
and baby Neil turncoated to the POS donkeys.

Screw Neil......I hope his name on the ring rusts out and falls off.....

Thanks guys, we really enjoyed having Neil on our team. His play was a big reason for our back to back Super Bowls.

Yep, he went to Denver . He was told of the Master PLan to bring a Championship to the Mile High. Cheat the salary cap and load up players .........

Worked so well it got you 2 SB's for a few draft picks...... What a plan.

Who's living in the past? I thanked your team for giving him to us so he could help us win the Super Bowls.

I guess for you, hostility wins out over intelligence.

Actually, our salary cap violations helped us get our state of the art stadium. :)
