Well, at least it's not our #1 this year. In essence we only lose this years #2. Not too bad

Frazod
01-10-2001, 08:10 PM
Sh!t. I was hoping we wouldn't have to give those pr!cks anything. Oh well.

At least we won't lose a first. And since we won't have a second, I sure as hell hope Carl makes it a good one.

Well, assuming this pans out, I guess we can get on with our lives now. Only 7 1/2 months or so to go until the season starts. Yippee.

NaptownChief
01-10-2001, 08:12 PM
Guys that was a very high #2, this draft is very deep with all of the JR's coming out early...That is going to be first round talent taken with that pick....This absolutely blows...

KCTitus
01-10-2001, 08:13 PM
jl: would you rather give up #12 or #43? I'll go with the latter.

Cannibal
01-10-2001, 08:13 PM
I guess Peterson sucks c0ck at the draft anyway... so it doesn't really matter. But it just the principal of him giving up draft picks to hire his buddy. It's totally annoying! http://www.geocities.com/cannibal1970/onfire.gif

TheFly
01-10-2001, 08:14 PM
$hit! We shouldn't sign Vermeil at all. If this was Al Davis instead of Carl he would take this thing to court and win. Do you think Carl will?! Naw!

NaptownChief
01-10-2001, 08:15 PM
Titus,

I would have rather it been #12 cause then CP would not sign him on as coach and then we wouldn't lose anything...

FloridaChief
01-10-2001, 08:15 PM
We really could have used that #2 pick this year...

Fucktheshittingassholecocksuckingshitlouisrambuttfeltchingrams

...yeah, somewhat upset...

Frazod
01-10-2001, 08:17 PM
Don't mince words, FC, tell us how you really feel... :D

Let's just hope they draft a second round equivalent of Ryan Leaf!

Cannibal
01-10-2001, 08:17 PM
With that # 2 pick, we could have drafted a stud LB in round # 1 and a good HB in round # 2.

That won't happen now.

Unless Peterson drafts a RB in round # 1, we'll miss out on the RB position ONCE AGAIN!

KCTitus
01-10-2001, 08:18 PM
jl: possibly. Would really like to know who, if anyone, CP had in mind if he couldnt get DV.

I guess Im hoping for the best. May not happen, but I hope for it anyway. We have 2 #3's so if this draft is truly as deep as you say, we should be ok.

I look at it this way, at least Gun and Co. are gone.

This definetly proves that Georgia sucks Taglibue's penis!

ansonsdad
01-10-2001, 08:19 PM
He then entered into a four-year agreement with the Rams last February that both terminated and superceded the 1997 contract.
In his ruling, the Commissioner found that, although the Rams-Vermeil agreement in February 2000 did not expressly bar Vermeil from seeking a head coaching position with another club during 2000 or 2001, "the clear purpose and effect of the agreement and the explicit premise of the agreement was that Vermeil would remain retired from coaching through the 2001 season."
"Under these circumstances," Commissioner Tagliabue wrote, "the February 2000 agreement certainly did not extinguish all of the Rams' rights with respect to Coach Vermeil. In other words, the Rams' voluntary agreement to pay a retiring coach (Vermeil) should not limit that club's ability to hold a coach to the full term of his original contract or to seek draft-choice compensation from another club if the coach is permitted to secure employment with another club."

In other words, the Rams F'd up ,but the league will cover thier a$$.

NaptownChief
01-10-2001, 08:19 PM
IMHO, I think this was the worst ruling possible cause I think that is the most they could have required and CP still do the deal...I am pretty sure he will sign him now....GAWD DAMN IT....I'm going to need counseling for the next few weeks and probably a couple months worth after April 15th when I see the guys we could have had with that pick.

KCTitus
01-10-2001, 08:20 PM
Cannibal: you and I both know CP is not drafting RB in round #1. He's giving that job to Richardson or they're going FA. We'll get the LB w/#1.

Frazod
01-10-2001, 08:21 PM
Is Fagliubue the final word? Can this go to arbitration or anything like that?

Cannibal
01-10-2001, 08:22 PM
Maybe we weren't going to, but we damn sure could've.

I wish we would've let Peterson go and hired Tom Donahoe.

I hate having a mongoloid muthafugga running my team.

NaptownChief
01-10-2001, 08:23 PM
Fagliaboo is the judge, jury and executioner...It is sign him and pay that price or don't sign him and pay nothing...We can only pray for the latter.

KCTitus

I guess it depends on what you think is worse: Having the opportunity and not taking it or Not having the opportunity at all.

Butch fricking Davis. That's who Peterson should have contacted first. Davis was making the chump change compare to other college coaches. Enough cheese and he would have been ours. Too late now.

I am going to feel like putting on my Doc Martens and kicking a fuggin hole in my TV when the Rams use our draft pick on some bad ass playa on draft day.

They'll probably take Fatafehi.

NaptownChief
01-10-2001, 08:33 PM
This is absolute horse $hit...The more I think about it the more pissed off I get...They terminated the fugging contract yet somehow the "spirit and intent" of the contract is valid even though it was, and I quote "TERMINATED". I am getting very tired of this punishing the successful to protect the morons...

Frazod
01-10-2001, 08:38 PM
This makes me sick, too. While the Donx remain media darlings, the Lambs are clearly now NFL darlings. I thought this when I saw their puss schedule this year (which knocked the crap out of them anyway), but now I'm sure of it.

Maybe Georgia can use that $500K to get some diamond-studded kneepads.

NaptownChief

Somebody explain this to me. How do the defending Super Bowl champs get to play San Diego?

Logical
01-10-2001, 08:49 PM
I like others hope the price is too high and Vermiel turns down the job. Carl will never withdraw the offer from a friend.

But I would like to put a different spin on it. I sincerely believe we just gave up a 2nd rounder to get rid of Gun and the Stooges. I really believe that at the very least if it was not for Carl's desire to have Vermiel in KC then at least Gun would have survived and possibly Jimmy Raye as well.

I feel getting rid of all of them is worth a 2nd rounder. And Vermiel is worth next years 3rd rounder from Washington.

Just trying to put the positive light on this crappy decision.

Frazod
01-10-2001, 08:50 PM
R&G, I've been wondering the same thing since I saw the damned schedule. My point exactly.

Perhaps in 2001 the Lambs will get Big 12 opponents instead of the NFC West. They'd still lose to OU and Nebraska, though!

NaptownChief
01-10-2001, 08:51 PM
Red and Gold,

It is because they already had a schedule full of those powerhouse's in the NFC West so they needed to balance out the strength of their schedule...wink,wink...

he he he. Thanks guys.

Oh well. We got these cards dealt to us. Peterson better make sure he makes the best out of it. We haven't won a playoff game since 1993.Time to start kicking ass again.

NaptownChief

TheFly

Peterson bought himself more time with those draft picks for Vermeil. He gets his next 5 year plan, fills the stadium by placating fans, and we get no champsionships...
Must make him feel really great...

NaptownChief
01-10-2001, 09:09 PM
Like I said last week...The only things those bastards deserved was a fifty pound bag of $hit and a firm kick in the ass...I can't get over the value of that pick, there is going to be players available at that point that are worthy of a mid first rounder due to the depth in this draft...I want to puke knowing we gave that up for a 64 year old coach...

Logical
01-10-2001, 09:15 PM
Am I the only one who realizes that we gave it up in exchange for showing Gun and all the stooges the door. That Gun and probably Jimmy Raye would still be here next season without this move. I understand the anger, but just do not get the blindness.

Realism needs to be added to this situation. You would all be on here biiitchinnn about Gun and the stooges if not for this move. I can at least find reason for hope in the change of direction. How about any of the rest of you moaners!

ROYC75
01-10-2001, 09:18 PM
This stinks...just like Florida...the intent.........should we expect anthing else....Tag must be a Dem! I don't like a 2 and a 3...3 and a 3 maybe...plus cash! Damm...I could use the cash!

NaptownChief
01-10-2001, 09:20 PM
Logical,

Nobody is happier than I am about flushing that coaching staff than I am...But just because we are finally bringing that damage to a halt doesn't mean we have to immediately run out and create more damage...We don't need to cut off our nose to spite our face...so to speak..

Logical
01-10-2001, 09:27 PM
Jl80,

While I understand your intent, my point is that we would not be rid of Gun and the stooges without this situation. DV is the only reason they are gone.

Lets make the best of that, and hope and pray that DV is unwilling to take on a team that has that high a price to pay. If not then remember we would be living with Gun and probably Jimmy Raye next season if we were not in this situation.

While I feel Carl might not have went ahead and signed DV for a first. I respect the fact he is not going to withdraw the offer over a 2nd. If he does then you watch and see all the howling about how he is hanging a friend out to dry, etcetera, etcetera, etectera.

A 2nd in 2001 and a 3rd in 2002 to breath Stooge-free air a build a solid, qualified coaching staff under a proven winner?

That is a bargain.

9 and 7 next year anyway. We needed the draft choice(s) to fill the holes at LB & DT. We should have hired Al Saunders as HC and paid Vermeil to consult. That way we'd still have the choices, and our HC of the future when DV decides to retire again. A number 2 is not a crapshoot in a deep draft, but we could have packaged it to trade down for more picks at lower rounds

While I felt a little "prison loved" this morning when I read about the #2, I have thought about it and have an idea???

NO #2 pick, means no #2 pick money, right. Wouldn't this free up a significant amount of allocated money for next year? I think it does and maybe CP can save his arse in my eye by signing a FA RB of significance....just looking for a possitive from a plate of brown steamers served for breakfast.

Oxford
01-11-2001, 01:18 PM
I think GC was hired to do one thing by CP. To force this team to get younger and thereby give CP cover (ie. take the blame)for the inevitable average years. GC did that -- now with the Chiefs over the cap and no viable option other than to re-sign EG, heads will roll. I can see McGlockton, Williams, Gray, Patton and Shields gone for cap reasons. I do not think signing FA's works in the majority of cases so I see no long term solution with that approach.
