Man, what a bummer. My kids (9 and 11) stayed home from school today and I've got a Dr.'s appointment lined up for them. My days off are Tuesday through Thursday so at least I can stay home with them. I dug out a copy of the old "Night Of The Dead" on DVD and we're watching it in the daytime. Any scary movies you guys can think of that are OK for a 9/11 year old. I want to go rent some for tonight.

That sucks, man. I'm sick as a dog today too, but luckily the kids are fine. I'm taking them to a Halloween party at my mom's, and my 15 yr old brother is going to take them trick-or-treating.

As for movies: I'd let them watch Army of Darkness... they'd get a kick out of it.

They're a bit younger than your kids but my boys love anything Scooby Doo, animation or movie. My 8 year old just watched the Mummy for the first time and liked it a lot. I haven't introduced him to any real scary stuff like Friday the 13th ect.

That sucks..hope they are feeling better...

Abbott and Costello meets Frankenstein would be a good one for the kids if you can find it..

Hope you guys feel better, Mr. listopencil.

As for the movie, I suggest "Signs". It has kids and corn and aliens and baseball.

I Spit on Your Grave??

You could rent either of the two Tim Burton movies Corpse Bride or Nightmare Before Christmas.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I think I'm just going to print out this thread and bring it to the video store with me. I'm sick too, and when I try to think of movies for them...I got nothing.

It's a kids movie. Well, it's got a kid in it.

The 4 year old and the 7 year old are both sick. To top it off, Mommy came home yesterday with what appears to be flu-like symptoms. Halloween is going to be a real blast at our place this year too. I feel for ya, listo. :banghead:

Maybe you could get CMac to put last year's Donkos at Arrowhead game up on the 'net for them to watch.

How about some of the classics like Dracula, Frankenstein or The Mummy? They are cheesy now, but fun for that age, unless your kids are allergic to black and white movies like mine. :shake: A (slightly) newer one that appropriate for that age is the 80's mini-series of Salem's Lot. Looks dated now, but still creepy.

Sounds good, I forced mine to watch black and white movies so they can do it now.

So, I ended up getting Army Of Darkness, Salem's Lot, and The Island Of Dr. Moreau (1996) for the kids. I got White Noise and Dark city for myself. I'm thinking of letting them watch White Noise but I want to watch it again to make sure it is OK for them. I haven't seen Dark City yet, it's about to start.

Dark city is pretty damn solid and a bit different. Enjoy.
