Friday tradition for us. I saw the Exorcist on Friday Fright Night for the first time.

I remember those. I also remember watching the similar Creature Feature out of Omaha when we used to go visit my grandparents. It was hosted by Dr. San Guinary (I had to look it up). Any Nebraskans remember this guy?

I remember some Friday Fright Night where these teens would die on purpose, then they would rise from the dead. Everyone thought it was cool until they all turned to rocks at the end. Ben was a mainstay on there.

That show made me have an eternal respect for Ray Adams. I'd be scared to death and then good old Ray Adams would come on telling me about the great car deals he had and I would feel better.

Hell yes! That was a Friday Night tradition for me and my friends in the early 1980's.

I remember seeing so many cheesy B level flicks (Grizzly, Pirahna, Kingdom of the Spiders, etc...). Guess thats where i gained my love for them. Its too bad those types of things have virtually disappeared from the local stations.

Yeah really. I saw The Hills have eyes, the excorcist, Birds and Burnt Offerings all for the first time with the talking skull on ffn. That and frozen Totino's(SP) pizzas.

The one movie I remember from Friday Fright night was about some giant ants. First time I ever stayed up past midnight.

One time they played Saturday the 14th on ffn. It was more a comedy than a horror flick.

That was what was great about FFN. It had a great mixture of classics with B level stuff.

Man i really miss that stuff.

Amazed I found it. I didn't realize it was exclusive to the KC area. And those Ray Adams used cars commercials. Almost as sentimental as the Cool Crest Commercials.

Well Friday Fright Night was just a local KC thing, but there were tons of these cheesy local horror shows just like it around the country at one time.

Local Stations dont do that sort of thing anymore since there are about 1000 cable channels these days.

I think he was right. I'm pretty sure the one I remember is Empire Of The Ants. My memory is vague on it, but I seem to remember the humans floating down a river and you get brief glimpses of them through the multiple eyes of the giant ants.

I loved Friday Fright Night, and when they had a double feature, it was the best. During the first one, it was a 2 liter of Coke, and a Pizza Hut pizza (back when it was edible!) and for the later show, a bag of Doritos, French onion dip and a second 2 liter. Then I'd stay in bed until noon on Saturday. Ah, to be 15 again...

THEM! was a black and white film with James Arness. Atomic radiation mutated the ants. In the 1950s, the bomb was the scariest thing and they made flicks about giant spiders, ants, and a woman, just to describe a few.

Funny, THEM showed up as part of AMC's Monster Fest last week. I noticed it while channel surfing one afternoon

I forgot the name of it, but as a kid we had something similar on the old KPLR out of St. Louis. That station ruled, it had the scary night, kung-fu theater, the old-school wrasslin' with Bulldog Bob Brown etc. Went the way of the dinosaur.

god I used to LOVE FFN. I remember staying up late and watching FFN then checking out Cinemax (and later, Cinemax through the rolling static once Mom & Dad cancelled it).
