What would be his role in this offense? Obviously LJ is the the workhouse and Michael Bennett has emerged as the change of pace speed threat... where does that leave Priest? A third-down, WR out of the backfied type back?

3rd down back/goal line back

priest is better in pass protection ... is a better receiver and is a top notch short yardage guy.

LJ won't like giving up his 1 yrd touchdown runs but Priest is fantastic around the goal line.

Priest would overtake Bennett as our #2 RB and probably take some time away from Kris Wilson as far as a RB out of the backfield type threat

would make for a hell of a backfield tandum if he can make it back; but I'm pretty sure he is never going to see the field again.. hope i'm wrong

I'd actually look at him to replace Dee Brown. He hasn't seen live action in how long now? Even if he does come back I doubt he would see significant action for quite a while.

Can you imagine how pissed LJ would be if Priest cam back to take his goal line carries?

Laz has it right.

I'd love to see Priest come back. I don't think it would hurt a team to have two great running backs.

Yep.

Use him just like we did Marcus Allen the last few years. Like that, Priest could easily extend his career 2-3 more seasons (Productive seasons that help the team) and play virtually injury free since he won't be carrying the load and getting worn down IMO.

LJ has Priest beat in a lot of areas, but we USED to be near perfect in Redzone TDs. LJ is great, but he isn't the goalline RB that Priest is.

LJ - workhorse

Bennett - change of pace back to give LJ a break

Holmes - 3rd down back, RB/WR, back up RB if LJ goes down

Priest would be awesome in this role for all the reasons you list.

Yeah, it'd be a shame having to settle for TDs instead of all those field goals. I don't think we could handle that distraction.

FWIW, Priest on the sidelines distracting LJ would really get a fire going in LJ.

that would be a real shame, wouldn't it. :fire:

imagine LJ getting so pissed that Holmes is getting the "jerome bettis" touchdown runs that he is determine to score each drive from 20 yrds out.

what a shame :shake:

He should retire....
I love the guy, but his time has past.

His only role should be official nacho-taster.

I'm hoping Priest does return and has a few 100 yard games alongside Larry....I need to sell the Holmes jersey patch, rookie card, and his autograph cards I picked up this year at 63rd street flea market.

How many people think there's actually a chance he will? Has he even been to any practices or games this year?

I don't see him on field this year.

He hasn't played in over a year. Likely has done little training and the NFL season is in Week 9.

The guy isn't coming back this year.

LJ should be pissed if they took away his 1yd.TDs..he probably ran 7 times to get them there...Priest needs to retire..he's done..he's hurt..let go guys.....

people are still talking about priest coming back?

He Ain't Comin Back.

every time a reporter asks about priest, KingCarl says he will be re-evaluated next week, but then they never say what the results are.

as the King puts it best, "It's about the Cap and the Cash"

Saying he does come back, which he won't:

If Priest came back to practice for a couple weeks and was in top-notch shape, he'd be the perfect Kimble Anders to LJ's Marcus Allen.
