From his 10 NFL Truths:

9. Rhythm and confidence are the two most important ingredients for a successful NFL quarterback. When you reach the pro level, 90 percent of all QBs have pretty even physical qualities.

Rhythm and confidence separate the good from the mediocre.

Thatís why the Chiefs might be better off sticking with Damon Huard as their starter as the season progresses. Huard has found a rhythm and his confidence is certainly growing. Heís played quite well the past two weeks, and the Chiefs have improved to 4-3.

Meanwhile, Trent Green is still probably two weeks from returning from the concussion he suffered in the Chiefsí season opener. Herm Edwards says Green will be KCís starter when heís healthy.

If Huard is still playing well when the Chiefs host Oakland on Nov. 19, it would be foolish to stick Green in the lineup at that point. Green will have to re-discover his rhythm and confidence. And while Green is trying to find it, Huard could lose his.

Green has been a solid performer for the Chiefs. But heís not Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Heís been a poor manís Drew Bledsoe, a QB who puts up nice numbers. The Patriots sat Bledsoe in favor of Brady. Heck, the Rams sat Green in favor of Kurt Warner.

Is Huard as good as Warner or Brady? No. But he might be as good as Jake Delhomme.

I'm really getting sick of these media assholes trying to paint Green as Grbac.

Hey F#cklock, if you think Green is "a poor man's Drew Bledsoe" you obviously don't know jack shit about football. 4321

IM thinking he meant 1993 - 2000 Bledsoe.....as opposed to 2001-2006 version.

Jeff George is a poor man's Drew Bledsoe. Great physicals, classic pocket passers, look great, but just can't take all that potential to produce consistent wins.

If Bledsoe did half as good as job of reaching his potential as Green, he'd be a first ballot HOFer.

Doesn't matter.

Bledsoe has always been an overrated QB, prone to stupid decision making in crucial situations.

IM thinking he meant 1993 - 2000 Bledsoe.....as opposed to 2001-2006 version. They really still aren't the same though. Bledsoe put up some good stats yes, but he also threw it 80 times a game. He had a 60+ Completion % once during that span and QB rating above 80 three times, never above ninety. Bledose got good stats through sheer quantity, Green got his through efficiency.

I will say Boo, becasue Green doesnt hold on to the ball to long, Green, never had an all around team that Bledsoe has had. Fatlock stfu.

If I'm GoChiefs and I'm trying to argue that Damon Huard should be the starter, I'd cite Saddam Hussein's views on the matter before I'd cite Shitlock's.

Maybe you'd like to let us know what Al Davis thinks, I'm sure that would be just as pursuasive...

Ya know, i actually agree with what Whitlock said..but

In no way do I say this to "shit on" Trent Green...but Huard is playing really well and obviously the team has confidence in him and is comfortable with him.

Isn't it at least somewhat realistic to view this as an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" situation? We still need to catch the Chargers and Broncos...I'm not sure we can afford a rusty game or two out of Trent.

Trent Green isn't a poor man's Drew Bledsoe.

Green >>> Bledsoe.

That being said, Huard is our guy now.

You can't sit out 10-12 weeks and not be rusty. You will be, there's no way around it.

Question is, if Huard = 3/4ths a Green how many games can we afford to lose while Green is operating at 1/2 his normal play?

Can our defense step up enough to protect a 35 year old recovering QB with 2/5ths an offensive line while he dusts off the rust?

Meatpeeker is just imitating Whitlock, trying to generate interest in his substandard columns that are about as exciting as reading the telephone book and as insightful as someone reading the KC star sports page aloud to you.

Trent has lead a 6-10 team, 2 7-9 teams, a 10-6 team, a 13-3 team...

I think Huard should get a chance to be our QB...we can sign him to an extension and restructure Green's contract if he wants to be a backup or cut him and save a boat load of money...

Sorry, football is a business.

Yeah, it's Trent Green's fault that the defense was garbage for 5 years.

Do you even take yourself seriously? Can you type this stuff without laughing?

in 2004 we lead every game but 1 in the 4th quarter and were 7-9...several times Green had the ball with time to go and couldn't lead us to victory...

I was so annoyed with Green in 2004, and I can't believe no one else remembers it...

He had a great 2005, but I won't forget the way he played with the game on the line in 2004...

Huard is 33...

when was the last time Kansas City drafted a QB and developed him?

I can't remember it...

we might as well keep cherry picking veterans like we always have...

Green is 36, Huard is 33...I could live with Huard at the helm for the next 3 years.

And this is somehow Green's fault....last time I checked he didnt play MLB. Leads were lost because of the 29-31st ranked defense not because Green couldn't keep the clock moving.
