No, they just now lost to us when they thought they should have won.

Add to that the rise in false patriotism in this country and you have a recipe for bitching.

Question: How did Chief fans beat out Nashville, Houston, Dallas, Jacksonville, or New Orleans as the primary redneck fans of the NFL?

Their team beat the Rams last Sunday. No teams from those other cities even played them.

It seemed as if the guys running the PA system for the stadium were trying to drown out the Chiefs fans after KC would score or LJ would have a long run. It was pretty awesome to see the turnout!!

11-06-2006, 08:39 PM
So you guys did the "Home of the CHIEFS!" chant there?

Yeah, they did. I was coming back from a quick run to Buffalo Wild Wings, and listening to pre-game on the radio. I pulled into the driveway just in time to hear "Home of the... CHIEFS!" And one of the guys (don't remember now if it was Mitch or Lenny) said "Wow, is this the Ed Dome or Arrowhead?"

redbrian

You just have to love these folks from St. Louis, first off none of them are from St. Louis, they all live in one of the counties.

In fact they would not be caught dead (well now that I think about it maybe they would be caught dead) in the City.

My first game at that waste of a space in St. Louis was the first game the Chiefs played over there, at the end of the anthem you heard resounding CHIEFS, so this is not something new.

And you really have to laugh at the joker over there talking about the redneck fans in KC, when in St. Louis County you have some of the biggest redneck towns in the Midwest, not to mention Jefferson County which is nothing but ridge runners.

KCBOSS1
11-06-2006, 08:52 PM
Careful now, probably 1/2 of St. Louis County folks are Chiefs fans. When I was coming west out of St. Louis, about 60 miles outside of St. Louis there were billboard advertisements for Chiefs stuff. That was last year, but I thought it was hilarious.

I think that's hilarious.

I also think that the whole "home of the CHIEFS" is far away from an insult to our National Anthem. You know, I've been to several games and loved the Anthem and always thought of it as a tribute to the Anthem. The USA is the home of the brave....it is also the home of the Chiefs. And from the heart of a diehard Chiefs fan, it might be a great compliment, at least it is from mine. In fact, the whole chill factor in Arrowhead after the CHIEFS ring out brings much more attention to the song as a whole, particularly to kids that have never really paid attention. Now, all of a sudden, it's not a pre-pro-game ritual, but they are tracing the words through the song. I consider myself very patriotic and never even thought about being offended.

Some folks just need to relax a little and reach up and dislodge their underwear...he he.

Also, if standing up and yelling for your team makes you a redneck, then I must be the biggest one of all.

And the best part is that he tells outright lies in the post.

First, the only time Bob Dole ever recalls the Chiefs organization asking the fans to stop was the first game after 9/11. Secondly, at that game, there was the most thunderous "BRAVE!" anyone has ever witnessed at the end of the National Anthem.

In Bob Dole's mind, it's pretty simple. If it really bothers people, they should try to drown it out by singing the real lyrics at top volume.

Half the jackasses that complain about it probably leave their hat on...

Dr. Van Halen
11-07-2006, 07:38 AM
Actually, it's all very moronic.

First, I agree that "Home of the Chiefs" is patriotic. It's the best compliment we can give to our country. "Chiefs" is a better word than "brave," as our team/city is bolder than mere "brave."

Second, Kansas Citians are better educated and wealthier per capita than St. Louisians. Do we have rednecks at the games? Yes. This is Missouri. We have rednecks everywhere.

Third, their city's attractions are crap. They turned their Union Station into a shopping mall???? Idiotic. The Arch? Are you kidding? Building an arch would have been impressive 2000 years ago. In 1969, it seems a little bit of an underachievement. And St. Louis wasn't the gateway to the West. People actually bought many of their supplies for the real part of their journey around the KC area. The trails start in KC, not in St. Louis.

Finally, sour grapes.

As stated earlier, as far as Bob Dole knows, it is an outright falsehood.

The fans were asked not to do it at the first game post 9/11, and the fans complied with the request.

I think if you say it in your home Stadium it's okay....but if you take it on the road....outside of the state of Misery...well...that's a shade different. :)

Actually the biggest kickoff of for it is it is right near the end of the game and when 35+/70+k fans say it at the same time it lets everybody know whos home it is...

That is why fans get so pissed when we do it at away games, because we silence them out with it... It pumps up the team and pumps up the fans at home to start the game off...

All this other bitching about it not being right is sour grapes, every single person does something to shit on this country but they want to call this out because they are not a Chief fan... Especially rams fans because they are all bandwagon fans, its funny how so many of them talk about being fans of the team before the superbowl but that stadium was always empty before that miracle run they had...
